Embracing Resurrection: Transformative Power and Enduring Faith
Devotional
Day 1: Joy as the Unshakable Strength in God’s Presence
True strength is not found in external circumstances or personal achievements but in the joy that comes from being in God’s presence. When you enter His presence with thanksgiving and worship, your heart is anchored in gratitude, and your soul is refreshed by His nearness. This joy is not a fleeting emotion but a sustaining force that carries you through trials and seasons of uncertainty. It reminds you that God’s faithfulness endures regardless of what you face, and it empowers you to stand firm with hope and peace.
This joy is a divine strength that transcends your feelings and situations. It is cultivated by intentionally focusing on God’s goodness and faithfulness, allowing your spirit to be renewed daily. As you cultivate this joy, you will find that it becomes the foundation for resilience and perseverance in your spiritual journey. [03:31]
“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8-9 ESV)
Reflection: When you face difficulties today, how can you intentionally shift your focus to cultivate joy in God’s presence rather than relying on your own strength? What specific act of thanksgiving or worship can you practice right now to anchor your heart?
Day 2: Justification and Sanctification as Unmerited Divine Gifts
It is easy to fall into the trap of trying to justify yourself through performance, perfection, or self-effort. However, justification is a gift freely given through the blood of Jesus, not something earned by works. This truth frees you from the exhausting cycle of striving to prove your worth before God. Sanctification, the process of being made holy and set apart, is also a gift of grace. It invites you into an intimate relationship with God where transformation happens by His power, not your own.
Relying on your own strength nullifies the work of the cross. Instead, you are called to rest in what Christ has accomplished and to receive His grace daily. This rest is not passive but active trust in God’s ongoing work in your life. It is a surrender that opens the door for God’s sanctifying Spirit to shape you from the inside out. [36:24]
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)
Reflection: Identify one area where you have been trying to earn God’s acceptance through your own efforts. How can you practically rest in the gift of justification and invite God’s grace to sanctify that part of your life?
Day 3: Resurrection as the Living Foundation of Enduring Faith
The resurrection of Jesus is not merely a historical event or a doctrine to be believed intellectually; it is the very foundation of hope and endurance for your faith. The gospel stands in stark contrast to the wisdom and philosophies of the world, which often dismiss the resurrection as foolishness. Yet, for those who are being saved, it is the power of God that guarantees eternal life. This promise shapes how you live now, giving you courage to persevere through trials and uncertainty.
The resurrection is not about temporary revival but about the eschatological reality of eternal life breaking into the present through the Holy Spirit. It transforms your identity and purpose, anchoring you in a hope that cannot be shaken by circumstances. This hope empowers you to live with boldness and joy, knowing that death has been defeated. [01:18:09]
“But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:20-22 ESV)
Reflection: In what ways does the reality of the resurrection influence your daily decisions and responses to hardship? How can you remind yourself of this living hope when discouragement threatens to overwhelm you?
Day 4: Living in the Fulfillment of Ancient Promises
The heroes of faith in the Old Testament lived by trusting promises they had not yet seen fulfilled. Today, you live in the reality of those promises fulfilled in Christ’s resurrection. Unlike those who hoped from afar, you have the Scriptures and the eyewitness testimony of the risen Jesus. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in you, bringing the future hope of resurrection into your present experience.
This reality should fill you with awe and a deep sense of responsibility. You are called to live as a witness to this new reality, empowered by the Spirit to embody the hope and transformation that Christ’s resurrection brings. Your life is a testimony to the faithfulness of God’s promises and the power of the Spirit at work within you. [01:34:02]
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV)
Reflection: How can you live more intentionally as a witness to the fulfillment of God’s promises in your daily life? What is one practical way to demonstrate the hope of resurrection to those around you this week?
Day 5: Daily Surrender as the Pathway to Resurrection Transformation
The resurrection life calls for ongoing daily surrender to God’s will: “Not my will, but Yours, Lord.” This surrender is not a one-time event but a continual yielding to the truth of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. As you yield, you are transformed from glory to glory, becoming a living testimony marked by hope and power that defies human wisdom.
In every circumstance, you are invited to rejoice, trust, and allow the reality of resurrection to shape your identity and purpose. This transformation is both inward and outward, affecting how you live, love, and serve. It is a call to live as people marked by resurrection power, reflecting the life of Christ in a world that desperately needs hope. [01:37:26]
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2 ESV)
Reflection: What is one specific area of your life where you can practice daily surrender to God’s will starting today? How will you remind yourself each morning to yield to the Spirit’s transforming work throughout your day?
Sermon Summary
Today’s gathering was a celebration of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and the transforming power of the resurrection. We began by entering God’s presence with thanksgiving, worship, and a deep sense of gratitude for all He has done. The songs and prayers reminded us that the joy of the Lord is our strength, and that His faithfulness endures through every season. We acknowledged that our standing before God is not based on our own performance or striving, but solely on the blood of Jesus, freely given for our justification and sanctification.
We reflected on the profound truth that our lives are forever changed by encountering Christ. The old has passed away, and we are being transformed from the inside out. Communion was a moment to remember that Jesus is our justification—He alone makes us right with God, not our own efforts or attempts to prove ourselves. We repented of self-reliance and received afresh the gift of grace.
Turning to Scripture, we explored 1 Corinthians 15 and the significance of the resurrection in the context of enduring faith. The resurrection is not just a historical event, but the very foundation of our hope and the assurance that God’s promises are true. Paul’s message to the Corinthians was clear: the gospel is not shaped to fit the philosophies of the age, but stands in contrast to them. The resurrection is not mere revivification, but the promise of eternal life—an eschatological reality that has broken into the present through the Holy Spirit.
We considered how the heroes of faith in the Old Testament lived by faith in what they could not see, but we now live in the reality of what has been revealed and accomplished in Christ. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now dwells in us, empowering us to live transformed lives and to endure with hope. Our faith is anchored in what is written in Scripture and in the eyewitness testimony of those who saw the risen Christ.
As we closed, we prayed for healing, for our families, and for God’s work in our church and city. We were encouraged to surrender daily to God’s will, to rejoice in the future that is already alive in us, and to live as people marked by resurrection power.
Key Takeaways
1. The Joy and Strength Found in God’s Presence True strength is not found in our circumstances or achievements, but in the joy of the Lord. When we enter God’s presence with thanksgiving and worship, we are reminded that He is faithful and good, regardless of what we face. This joy is not fleeting; it is a sustaining force that carries us through trials and seasons of uncertainty. Our hearts are anchored in gratitude, and our souls are refreshed by His nearness. [03:31]
2. Justification and Sanctification Are Gifts, Not Achievements We often strive to justify ourselves—seeking acceptance through performance, perfection, or self-effort. Yet, Scripture teaches that Jesus alone is our justification; He makes us right with God by His blood, not by our works. Sanctification, too, is a gift: we are set apart and made holy by His grace, invited into intimate relationship with God. To rely on our own strength is to nullify the work of the cross; instead, we are called to rest in what Christ has accomplished. [36:24]
3. The Resurrection Is the Foundation of Enduring Faith The resurrection is not just a doctrine to be believed, but the very core of our hope and endurance. Paul reminds us that the gospel stands in contrast to the wisdom and philosophies of the world—it is “folly” to some, but to those being saved, it is the power of God. The resurrection is not simply about being revived; it is the promise of eternal life, a reality that shapes how we live now and gives us courage to persevere. [78:09]
4. We Live in the Fulfillment of What the Ancients Hoped For The heroes of faith in the Old Testament trusted in promises they never saw fulfilled, yet we now live in the reality of Christ’s resurrection. Unlike Abraham or Moses, we have the Scriptures and the testimony of the risen Jesus. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in us, bringing the future hope of resurrection into our present experience. This should fill us with awe and a sense of responsibility to live as witnesses to this new reality. [94:02]
5. Surrender and Transformation Are Ongoing Responses to Resurrection Life The resurrection calls us to daily surrender—not my will, but Yours, Lord. As we yield to God’s truth and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we are transformed from glory to glory. Our lives become a testimony to the world, marked by a hope and power that cannot be explained by human wisdom. In every circumstance, we are invited to rejoice, to trust, and to let the reality of resurrection shape our identity and purpose. [97:26]

Sermon Clips
The essence of the truth of biblical resurrection is presented from the esqueological perspective like more than just being revived because what happened to all those people one one scholar tried to create a word I don't know whether this is a English word or not I was sitting at rhley Bible college and This guy said it's not it's not just being revived like Lazarus and all those guys. It was he said he could use the word I don't know is that a word revivification which is being revived because after that they died. Yeah. But resurrection that that the Bible talks about the resurrection for eternity that we that we're going to have. [01:19:58]
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. That's the Old Testament faith. But you and I have the advantage of we have seen and we have read what was written. Abraham did did not have the scripture. Noah did not have the scripture. You and I do. Yeah. Those guys heroes. They did not have the scripture. You and I do. Yeah. Some people rest for the dead, but they didn't come to see Jesus raised himself up by the Holy Spirit. [01:33:13]
So then some start to start to deny the the the existence of resurrection in that in that sense. In other words, being raised and never to see death again. And because of that Paul then let's go back to verse one first Corinthians chapter chapter verse one. He said, "Now I would remind you." He said, "Okay, let let's go back to when I when I preach to you guys. I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you receive, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word that I preached to you, unless you believe in vain." [01:21:57]
You are you are being saved if you hold fast to it. You notice the uh the the uh grammatical thing. You are being saved. In other words, the gospel is a sustain something that sustain us in our journey. And we are until Jesus comes back, we are being saved. And another another passage where Jo said uh uh Paul said we are being transformed. from glory to glory. That's the journey of being saved. As a matter of fact, somebody this is like long time ago I heard there are three aspect. You were saved, you being saved and you will be saved means the completion of the whole thing. [01:22:49]
Salvation. You and I, we were saved when we received Jesus. But at the same time we are being saved being transformed from glory to glory. One degree of glory to another degree of glory. And then until that time we will be completely saved. Yeah. So Paul remind them. Let me remind you about the gospel that I preached to you. you've been infiltrated by these idiots. Let me remind you of the gospel that I preached to you. And he start talking about resurrection. Before we we we uh go deeper into the above verse into this passage, I want to read something a statement made by How many have have heard the guy called Chuck. [01:23:42]
Chuck Olson is a guy one of the President Nixon's uh key men. He was he was caught up in in the whole Watergate. Has anybody heard of Watergate thing? Right. Yeah. Watergate scandal. And he was in prison. He was in prison. And I mean he got saved and he got saved and became a minister. As a matter of fact, D and I when he visited Australia in somewhere 84, 85, whatever D and I were invited to sing, you know. before his his uh thing that American guy. Yeah. Yeah. He came and so he he got saved and he wrote something like this. He said this is word for word, right? [01:24:47]
I know the resurrection is a fact and Watergate proved it to me. Really? Okay. How? Because 12 men 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead and they proclaimed the truth for 40 years never once denying it. Everyone was beaten, tortured, stoned and but and put in prison. They would not have endured endured those things if it weren't true. The resurrection went through. And then he said, "What a great embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world and they could not keep alive for three weeks. You're telling me 12 apostles could keep alive for 40 years? Absolutely impossible." [01:25:45]
And I read that and I thought, "Sounds great. But let's see what Paul how Paul asserts the truth about resurrection of Jesus. Let's start from verse three. I mean it's great great great testimony but let's see how Paul make his argument or his assertion here is from verse three. For I deliver to you as of first importance that I also receive that Christ died for our sins. Listen to this. In accordance with the scriptures. And that he was buried and was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. Are you guys getting something here? [01:26:25]
And that he appeared to Cphus and then to the 12 then appeared to more than 500 brothers at one time. Most of them are still alive. though some have fallen asleep. Verse seven, then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared to me also, for I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I work harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is in me. [01:27:06]
Whether then it was I or they, so we speak, and so you believe the this is the I'm trying to push two points here or some points. The prime foundation of Paul's assertion in presenting the truth of resurrection is what is written. He pushed that. He He said Jesus was crucified that as it is written. He was quoting from Isaiah 53. Written in the scripture. It is a sure foundation what is written. Okay. Christ died for us in accordance with the scripture. He was buried and he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scripture. [01:28:21]
In other words, it is impossible to deny the resurrection. I mean, you 500 people saw it at one time. Yeah. And then Paul himself, I like the way he said untimely born. As I look, I thought that's an interesting way of or abnormally born. So, he's referring to himself in this way. Okay. The reason for use this terminology is because the way Paul's apostolic status came into being. His apostolic status is unlike the other apostles who came to their apostolic status after being with Jesus three and a half years. [01:29:28]
Paul, he became an apostle while he was on the way to kill some Christians, to arrest some Christians on the way road to Damascus. Like that's why it's so untimely born. It's like, you know, it's weird, but that's how God works. Those guys spent three and a half years with Jesus being disciple. I was on the way with you on my horse ready to arrest some Christians and maybe to kill them and then confronted by Jesus and then he presented himself like because of that I see myself as I'm not willing to be an apostle or the least of the apostles and yet you know he's the most prominent apostle in the church history in the New Testament. [01:30:31]
Yeah. I read this church history by by this guy called FF Bruce. He said he wrote he wrote this Christianity began as a Jewish sect. That's how Christianity began as a Jewish sect. And this is what he said. And yet within just over a generation, this Jewish sect become became the majority religion in the whole of Roman Empire between just over generation. No email, no telegram, no nothing, no Facebook, nothing. He said just over generations. You know how big Roman Empire at that time become the majority religion in the whole Roman Empire. [01:31:30]
And he said all that I can put down after studying history to the work of one man, the work and the writing of one man whose name was Paul. And yet he saw himself as the least of the apostles. Yeah. Now let's see go back again resurrection in the context of this thing that we call enduring faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. That's the Old Testament faith. But you and I have the advantage of we have seen and we have read what was written. Abraham did did not have the scripture. Noah did not have the scripture. You and I do. [01:32:35]
Some people rest for the dead, but they didn't come to see Jesus raised himself up by the Holy Spirit. They didn't see that. You and I. It's not to certain extent. It's not the unseen faith. It's like, yeah, we've we've heard what is written and we've seen in the scripture. We have the upper hand as far as faith to the heroes of the faith. In the book of Hebrews, verse 13, these all died in faith, not having received the things promised, you and I have received what was promised. But having seen them, greeted them from afar, having acknowledged that they were strangers in exile on earth. [01:33:33]
And verse 39, all these all the Old Testament saints though commended through their faith did not receive what was promised, which is the resurrection. Oh yeah, they received forgiveness. They experienced forgiveness by God. They experienced aspect of redemption through the the law through the sacrificial offering and all that. But when it comes to when it comes to the Russian resurrection power, let me read you this scripture. Romans 8 verse 11. If the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you. Hello. Shall I read that again? [01:34:13]
If the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his spirit who dwells in you. In other words, there's an aspect of future that we are living in now through the power of the Holy Spirit after the resurrection of Jesus. There is an invasion of the future. I'm talking about esquetological future to now. Whoa. That's who we you and I are. So let's live a life of the power of the Holy Spirit by which we are being saved and being transformed from one degree of glory to another degree of glory to higher degree of glory. [01:34:56]
That when people look at you it's like I know you don't make sense but I like what I'm seeing. There's something about you that I need to know more. We're going to continue on this thing on Corinthians 15 into more details. Paul gives the principle of the whole thing how it works. So let's all stand up. Oh man, reading that scripture, I I I got down on my knees. I want to surrender more to Jesus. It's like, oh Jesus, this is this is so I mean, I don't care what's what's going to happen to me. I'm just going to I'm owned by you, Jesus. [01:35:59]
