1. "Repentance feels like a dirty word. Or at least an awkward word. Because it's associated with doing the wrong thing. And the image or feeling is often one of shame or embarrassment or awkwardness. But I want to tell you today, listen, repentance is a gift from God. It's a gift. Have you considered? My gift of repentance, says the Lord. It is a gift. And you know when you generally receive a gift, you don't feel shame. You don't feel awkward. You don't associate it with bad feelings. It's a privilege to receive a good gift." [03:08] (38 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "Repentance is to change your mind and to change your direction. See, if you change your mind but never change your direction, you will end up doing what you just did before. That's momentary regret. It's not repentance. And then the problem with that is, oh, I'm so sorry, Lord. Oh, I'm so sorry, Lord. I'm so sorry, Lord. Now, I understand the nature of addiction can be hard. Stuff that you want to see broken off your life can be difficult. But there is something about repentance that God will grace you for to turn around." [08:18] (28 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "Repentance is not something you used in 1993 when you got saved. Or 2012 or 2018. When's the last time you repented? Oh years ago. No. Repentance is. You know here's a good prayer. Every day say God give me something to repent about. It doesn't mean I need new sin or new addictions. But I want to tell you every time you change your mind. And change your direction. God washes you. God cleanses you. He removes your sin. He removes your guilt. He removes your shame. And that is something we all need." 4. "Repentance is now far more than just getting you out of your sin. It's actually elevating you to a place. Why repent? Because God wants you to see things from his perspective. It's going higher. It actually you know when you see yourself from ground floor you condemn yourself. But when you go up to 13A you're like you know have you had those moments? The prodigal had that moment. He came to his senses. He's eating the pig's food. And he's like. Have you had that aha moment? Like what am I doing here?" [23:24] (31 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5. "Repentance is God's gift of saying come on go higher and see yourself. See others. See life. See challenges. See it from my perspective. My ways are not your ways. I've given you a gift called repentance. And you think about it. If repentance is more than just removing sin which I'm so glad it does. And if you've been caught in something I want to encourage you just come before God. And say God I'm not going to pretend here it is. I know the problem is we're scared of people. But just get your heart right before God to start with." [29:04] (34 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "If repentance truly. Why repent? Not just to get saved and not just to get your peace and your joy back. But if repentance truly is even beyond that. If repentance has helped me to see the kingdom of heaven. Because that's what Jesus said. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Meaning yes say sorry. Yeah get your heart right. Yeah get your joy back. But get in the lift and start to see people, situations, yourself the way I see it. I have a kingdom. I have heaven to earth. I have something that I want you to experience." 7. "Before you confront that person. I'm going to talk to them. Before you confront them repent. Or you'll have to repent about the way you confronted them. Before you discipline your child repent. Yeah but they're the ones that need the discipline. Yeah but God help me to see my child the way you see them. Let me go higher and see them the way you see them. And then it will be appropriate to say whatever I need to say. But I'll do it out of love. I'll do it out of care. And I'll do it out of concern." 8. "Repentance is to renew your mind to God setting. Now this might be maybe the most misunderstood part of repentance. And if you get nothing else maybe today might be the key. Now I've saved most of my time for this point because this is the part that I think is really the beauty of this gift. In Matthew 4 I referred to it Jesus began to say repent. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. You know the English word repent. I talked about the Greek word means to change your mind and to change your direction." 9. "Repentance is not just restoring your joy and peace. It's actually going to help you think and see what I say. That's why we are renewing our mind. We are transformed as we say God I want to actually know what you know about me. I want to hear what you hear. I want to say what you say. I want to think what you think. Repentance is now far more than just getting you out of your sin. It's actually elevating you to a place. Why repent? Because God wants you to see things from his perspective." 10. "Repentance is a gift. And you know when you generally receive a gift, you don't feel shame. You don't feel awkward. You don't associate it with bad feelings. It's a privilege to receive a good gift. And the best gifts are those where thought has gone into it. If you've ever received a gift. And it's like God thought of you and me. He thought of humanity. And he said, I'm going to come up with a gift that I'm going to make available to them. That they're going to want. They're going to need. They're going to use."
