Embracing Redemption: The Urgency of Spiritual Preparedness

Summary

In life, we often find ourselves in situations where we feel helpless, like when trying to save a life and realizing that our efforts might be too late. These moments remind us of the urgency of being spiritually prepared. We don't know when our time will come, and we may not get a second chance. Today is the day to make sure our souls are ready, to embrace God's mercy and grace, and to say, "God, I'm yours."

Reflecting on 1 Peter 1:18-19, we are reminded that our redemption doesn't come from worldly things like money or status, but through the precious blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice. This redemption is not about achieving perfection but about making progress in our spiritual journey. It's about being covered by the sacrificial lamb, Jesus Christ, who takes away the sins of the world.

The church is a place for the broken, the sinners, and those seeking redemption. It's where we find healing and transformation through the blood of Christ. Just as a sacrificial anode protects metal from corrosion, Christ's sacrifice protects us from the spiritual decay of sin. Without this protection, we are exposed to the world's corrosive influences.

We must be vigilant in maintaining our spiritual protection, just as we would check the anode in a water heater to prevent leaks. Neglecting this can lead to spiritual decay and vulnerability. We need to ensure that our lives are covered by the sacrificial wool of Christ's love and grace. This covering is essential for our spiritual survival and growth.

In Isaiah 53, we see the prophecy of Christ's suffering and sacrifice. He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, offering us a covering of wool, a protection that shields us from the world's corruption. We must regularly inspect our spiritual lives, ensuring that we are not deceived by the wolf in sheep's clothing, but are truly covered by the sacrificial lamb.

Day 1: Embrace Spiritual Readiness Today
In life, we often encounter moments that remind us of our vulnerability and the unpredictability of our time on earth. These moments serve as urgent reminders of the importance of being spiritually prepared. We are encouraged to embrace God's mercy and grace today, without delay, as we may not have a second chance. This readiness is not about fear but about living in the assurance of God's love and being prepared to meet Him at any moment. The call is to say, "God, I'm yours," and to live each day with a heart open to His guidance and love. [04:06]

"For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." (1 Thessalonians 5:2, ESV)

Reflection: What is one step you can take today to ensure your heart is spiritually ready to meet God?

Day 2: Redemption Through Christ's Sacrifice
Our redemption is not something we can earn through worldly achievements or possessions. Instead, it is a gift given through the precious blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice. This redemption is not about achieving perfection but about making progress in our spiritual journey. It is about being covered by the sacrificial lamb, Jesus Christ, who takes away the sins of the world. This understanding calls us to focus on the eternal rather than the temporal, finding our worth and identity in Christ's sacrifice. [07:16]

"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7, ESV)

Reflection: How does understanding your redemption through Christ's sacrifice change the way you view your daily struggles and achievements?

Day 3: The Church as a Sanctuary for Healing
The church is not a place for the perfect but a sanctuary for the broken, the sinners, and those seeking redemption. It is where we find healing and transformation through the blood of Christ. Just as a sacrificial anode protects metal from corrosion, Christ's sacrifice protects us from the spiritual decay of sin. The church is where we learn to be vigilant in maintaining our spiritual protection, ensuring that we are not exposed to the world's corrosive influences. [12:28]

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." (James 5:16, ESV)

Reflection: In what ways can you actively participate in your church community to both give and receive healing and support?

Day 4: Vigilance Against Spiritual Decay
Just as we regularly check the anode in a water heater to prevent leaks, we must be vigilant in maintaining our spiritual protection. Neglecting this can lead to spiritual decay and vulnerability. We need to ensure that our lives are covered by the sacrificial wool of Christ's love and grace. This covering is essential for our spiritual survival and growth, protecting us from the world's corrosive influences. [27:56]

"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." (Proverbs 4:23, ESV)

Reflection: What practical steps can you take this week to guard your heart and maintain your spiritual protection?

Day 5: The Prophecy of Christ's Sacrifice
Isaiah 53 prophesies Christ's suffering and sacrifice, offering us a covering of wool that shields us from the world's corruption. We must regularly inspect our spiritual lives, ensuring that we are not deceived by the wolf in sheep's clothing, but are truly covered by the sacrificial lamb. This vigilance requires discernment and a commitment to living under the protection of Christ's sacrifice, which offers us true freedom and peace. [36:26]

"But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5, ESV)

Reflection: How can you cultivate discernment in your spiritual life to ensure you are truly covered by Christ's sacrifice?

Quotes

I've had the unfortunate opportunity to be in some very very scary situations in life I wanted to go with my brother to Vietnam I was too young all my family did so I didn't see that kind of tragedy but in my career there have been situations where I've needed to help someone that was injured hurt or dying in my business has happened four times in my life only two times could I do anything about it CPR getting the AED out one worked one didn't and you know you folks if you've never done that the other two very dear friends and you're trying your best get this closer and you're trying your best to just keep them coming come on stay with me Dave stay with me Dave come on stay with me and you're you're doing the AED and you're doing and you feel so useless at that time I know God's in control but folks I correlate my life's experiences to living for God it's how I work I don't know how you do it but I do and I look at those experiences and I say God if I could have just started CPR five minutes sooner if I could have saw him go down five minutes sooner came upon my dear friend that we were retiring together we were buying property back together in California and he had been probably dead for two hours in his truck it didn't mean I wasn't gonna try I could tell he was [00:00:11]

But more than that, when I look around the building today and I see, I don't know your soul, but I see some beautiful, beautiful people that God has created. And I say, please, please don't ever put me in that position to know if your soul is ready or not. God's the judge. But please, today, would you get ready? Would you not be stressful about tomorrow? Would you get ready today? Because you don't get a second chance. So many of us, and I get to hear the testimony of Pastor Dale. You got a lot of chances, didn't you, Pastor? You're so blessed. You're so unique. Not all of us get that. But I'm so thankful we're serving a God of mercy and grace, a God of love and long suffering. [00:03:30]

For as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold, but from your vain conversations received by tradition from your fathers, the world is going to tell you you're redeemed by other things. Don't believe it. I've been redeemed by the money my family passed down I've been redeemed by my status that my father passed down no your father's your the world will tell you that but that's not how you've been redeemed you've been redeemed by the yeah and so when we look at 19 but with this is what it is but with the precious blood of christ not money silver gold but with the precious blood of christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot you see i'm not trying to achieve perfection i'm just trying to achieve progress i'm doing my best and that's a challenge by the way it's tough it's tough sometimes it really does feel like one step forward and three back but you know we got god oh you work on the happen but but so we're redeemed by that flesh of brother blood of christ in the name of the father who gave you the изraelite [00:06:55]

I'm here to tell you right now, there wasn't money could buy that kind of satisfaction. There wasn't a job that could make me happy enough to buy that kind of satisfaction. There was nothing that could accomplish what I wanted to accomplish that didn't last as long as the bar was open or as long as my hangover the next day would last. That was just moments in time. And that's what we talk about when we try to address sin. Sin is kind of exciting for a season. Don't you ever think it's not? There is joy in sin for a season. I lived those seasons in my life. A lot of you have lived seasons in your life, whether it was 10 minutes or 40 years. [00:10:42]

Where are folks supposed to be that lie, cheat, and steal? In the house of God. Where are folks that do illicit things supposed to be? They're supposed to be in the house of God. They need help. They've got to find an altar. They've got to get baptized. They've got to repent of all the things they're doing. They've got to get a hold of God. That's what it's supposed to be. That's where I went. And the person I was with, I was, my dad let things bother him. And my sister watches hi Donna And she knows this associate you go get some macaroni cheese or something so my dad let things bother him in the church Why go to a church? There's stuff going on in churches hypocrites in church. What do you think they're supposed to be? [00:12:01]

And right about the time he reaches for his cigs, and he pulls him out of his hand, I went, God, is it really this hard? And dad goes, oh. I went, hey, dad, I don't smoke either. Let's do this. Let's do this again. I'm telling you, that's the best Thanksgiving meal I ever had. My Uncle Leroy, they couldn't stop him speaking in tongues. Stop or try to eat turkey. Church, church, right now, some of us that are saved and sanctified, we have seen the staff thrown down. I'm going to tell you right now, that staff is thrown. They're thrown down. [00:22:28]

So I'm up there, and it's like I just saw God throw that staff down. Yeah, I'm doing my thing. And now I'm going to watch what happens when Pharaoh has my dad reach for his cigs. [00:22:12]

How many know our spirit, our soul corrodes over time? Yeah. There are times we get out of bed in the morning, Brother Cody, and I'm telling you what, it's everything I can do to pray to God. Yeah. Oh, it's just like it is, yeah. Yeah. And so we corrode in our spirit. Now, in your water tank, on pipelines, in special kind of tankage and refineries, vessels, things that are called... Fractionators, they're made of that kind of material that is susceptible to corrosion. And so what you do, you put a sacrificial anode in that process. Now, this anode here is magnesium. [00:25:40]

I'm going to tell you this morning, if you don't know Jesus Christ by way of salvation through acts, you are exposed to everything this world has to offer. And what you need is to be surrounded by a sacrificial material. You need to be surrounded by a sacrificial material. And I've seen, I've seen up in Ojai, California, the clause, and we connect well in that part of the country, right on the ocean, there's that big pipeline that comes from the platforms. [00:28:15]

And all they got to was that piece of metal, and that metal's not going to protect metal. You're not that good to protect yourself. Church, you are not that good to say, I'll fight the devil myself. You're not that good to fight alcohol by yourself. You're not that good to fight drugs by yourself. You're not that good to fight pornography by yourself. You're not that good to fight the addiction. that you have by yourself. You're not that good to fight cheating on your spouse by yourself. You're not that good to fight, come on. No, no, my God, you need some kind of protection. You need someone to help you. And I'm here to tell you, Jesus Christ has taken his precious blood and he's put it on Calvary that you and I would have protection all over our lives. My God, what's wrong with you if you don't want that? [00:30:13]

Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. And he said, that's what's going to happen. And he does today, church. There are dark days in my life. There are hard times in my life. I do, you know, Apostle Paul said, don't look back, but look ahead. I can't do like our Savior. I can't put it all in a sea of forgetfulness. I look back over my life, and there's been pain. There's been hurt. Friends. I have left me because I decided to stay true. [00:37:48]

what god has decided church is he has provided you a covering of wool his wool has been sheared for you right before he was butchered like meat that wool was placed around you and a covering has been placed on you called the spirit of the power of the holy ghost and now your little tiny little speck in the middle of this doesn't matter to god you're everything to the world you're a speck but if you don't check this once in a while if you don't inspect yourself if you don't stop wrapping around you uh wolf and sheep's clothing you're not gonna survive you've got to keep this protection around you you need a covering of that spiritual wool in your eye and don't ever forget it's the only thing that's going to kill you the only thing that's going to that helps.
