Within the church, this diversity should be celebrated, as it allows each person to connect with God in a manner that is sincere and true to their own spirit. In my sermon, I began by inviting the congregation to join us in worship, emphasizing the freedom to worship as the Lord moves each individual, whether stoically or with raised hands. I then directed the congregation to open their Bibles to Romans chapter 12, where the Apostle Paul writes to the church in Rome about the diversity of gifts within the body of Christ. Paul urges believers not to think too highly of themselves but to use their varied gifts in service to one another and to further the kingdom of God.

I explained that we have begun a sermon series on spiritual gifts, revisiting a topic we had previously covered nine years ago. The purpose of this series is to empower and encourage the congregation to live out their gifts within the body of Christ and to point others to Jesus. I reminded the congregation that every believer has been blessed with a spiritual gift, which is meant to be used for the health of the body, the unity of fellow believers, and the advancement of the gospel in the world.

Turning to Matthew 25, I read the parable of the talents, highlighting the master's trust in his servants as he entrusts them with his wealth. I stressed that faith is not merely about receiving but also about being filled and poured out in service. I shared my personal journey of growing up in the church and serving in various capacities without ever being taught about spiritual gifts. It was only through trial and error that I stumbled upon my own gifts and began to understand how to use them effectively for God's purposes.

I concluded by walking through the seven motivational gifts listed in Romans 12, encouraging the congregation to identify with one or more of these gifts. I described each gift briefly, from prophecy to mercy, and invited the congregation to consider how they might serve within the church and the world using their unique gifts. I expressed excitement for the church to discover the fulfillment and fruitfulness of serving Jesus Christ together, bringing His message to the world.
