Embracing Our Purpose: The Essentials of Christian Life
Devotional
Day 1: The Cleansing Power of Christ's Blood
The blood of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christian faith, providing the foundation for our relationship with God. It cleanses us from sin, allowing us to become part of Christ's body. Without this cleansing, we cannot truly claim to be Christians. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross erases our past and offers us a new beginning, free from the burden of sin. This profound truth is not just about forgiveness but about transformation, enabling us to live a life that reflects Christ's love and sacrifice. Embracing this truth means acknowledging the depth of Christ's love and the power of His blood to renew and restore us. [03:29]
Hebrews 9:14 (ESV): "How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God."
Reflection: Consider an area of your life where you feel burdened by past mistakes. How can you invite the cleansing power of Christ's blood into this area today to experience true freedom and renewal?
Day 2: The Guiding Light of God's Word
The Word of God serves as a guide for our lives, much like a manufacturer's manual. It instructs us on how to live in alignment with God's will. Ignoring the Bible leads to spiritual stagnation and makes us vulnerable to false doctrines. To grow in faith and understanding, we must read and meditate on Scripture daily. This practice helps us navigate life's complexities and challenges, ensuring that we remain rooted in truth. By immersing ourselves in God's Word, we gain wisdom and strength to face the trials of life with confidence and hope. [04:23]
Psalm 119:105 (ESV): "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Reflection: Identify a specific area in your life where you need guidance. How can you incorporate daily Bible reading to seek God's direction and wisdom in this area?
Day 3: The Transformative Power of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit empowers and transforms us, but this is not a one-time experience. We must continually seek His filling to maintain our spiritual vitality and effectiveness in ministry. The Holy Spirit's genuine anointing is essential for a vibrant Christian life, enabling us to live out our faith with passion and purpose. By inviting the Holy Spirit to work in us daily, we open ourselves to His transformative power, which renews our hearts and minds. This ongoing relationship with the Holy Spirit is crucial for experiencing the fullness of life that God intends for us. [20:22]
Ephesians 5:18 (ESV): "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit."
Reflection: Reflect on your current spiritual practices. How can you intentionally seek the Holy Spirit's filling each day to experience His transformative power in your life?
Day 4: Embracing the Way of the Cross
Taking up the cross daily means dying to ourselves and living a life of humility and service. This is how we overcome Satan, not through mere words or actions but through a life of sacrifice and obedience. Embracing the way of the cross leads to true joy and peace, as we align our lives with Christ's example. By letting go of self-worship and embracing humility, we find strength in weakness and victory in surrender. This path of sacrifice and obedience is the key to experiencing the abundant life that Jesus promises. [25:19]
Luke 9:23 (ESV): "And he said to all, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'"
Reflection: Identify a specific area where you struggle with self-centeredness. What practical steps can you take today to embrace humility and service in this area, following the way of the cross?
Day 5: The Strength of Fellowship in the Body of Christ
Unity in the body of Christ is crucial for spiritual strength and victory over the enemy. Even if we disagree on minor issues, our unity in spirit is essential for building a strong church and defeating the enemy. Fellowship with other believers provides support, encouragement, and accountability, helping us grow in our faith. By prioritizing unity and community, we create an environment where love and grace abound, enabling us to stand firm against the challenges we face. This collective strength is vital for fulfilling the church's mission and advancing God's kingdom. [36:05]
1 Corinthians 12:12 (ESV): "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ."
Reflection: Think of a relationship within your church community that needs strengthening. How can you take a step towards fostering unity and support in this relationship today?

Sermon Clips
The blood of Jesus Christ, that's like the thumb, the most important part. You can't do without that because that's how our sins are forgiven and our past life is blotted out. We can say that is the bare minimum. A person has not been cleansed in the blood of Christ, then he's not even in Christ's body. [00:03:26]
Without the Bible, we don't know anything about God. Supposing you're an illiterate person, you can hear about the blood of Christ and be forgiven, but you're not going to grow spiritually if you don't read the Word of God. Jesus said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from God's mouth. [00:04:18]
Most believers even in our churches don't read the Bible carefully. Their only knowledge of the Bible is from what they hear in the preaching. That's very easy then to get a lot of wrong doctrines and be deceived by many other preachers in Christendom. I want to ask you, how strong is the second finger of yours? [00:05:36]
If you don't read the manufacturer's instructions, you're like a proud person who thinks I know better than God how to run my life. Meaning, like that washing machine without listening to the instructions, you spoil it. So if you have not followed the instructions, there's no guarantee on the machine. [00:07:50]
The Holy Spirit is the third finger. I grew up in the early days in the Brethren Assembly about fifty years ago where they never talked about the Holy Spirit. We studied the Word of God but we didn't depend on the Holy Spirit. My life was dried, discouraged, depressed. I learned that this baptism in the Holy Spirit is not just once. [00:17:20]
I want to say to all of you, you must seek for a genuine baptism and fullness of the Holy Spirit. I received this in my own house, not in some meeting. That is why in CFC I always encourage people to pray for this in their own house. Because you may get some emotional experience which is not real. [00:21:48]
Taking up the cross every day and dying to ourselves. You cannot follow Jesus if you don't take up the cross every day. Yesterday's cross was for yesterday, like yesterday's food. Yesterday's food does not satisfy your hunger today. However good that food may have been, if you don't eat food every day, you feel hungry. [00:24:18]
This is how we overcome Satan. Do you know that Jesus did not overcome Satan by preaching? He did not overcome Satan by casting out demons. It says in Hebrews chapter 2 that it was through death that he made the one who had the power of death, the devil, powerless. [00:27:31]
The body of Christ is something that helps me to have a solid grip on the Christian life. You don't need 200 or 300 people. Remember that verse in Matthew 18:20, if two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst. What if you are alone as a believer? There is no midst. [00:36:05]
As soon as you try to build that fellowship, the devil will try to destroy it because he is scared of the Lord being in the midst of two people who are united. That's why as soon as God joined Adam and Eve together, the devil came immediately and separated them. [00:37:01]
One of the reasons why the devil has never been able to come into the CFC Bangalore is because the two of us elders have always been united. If two people are united, they have authority over Satan. If you find the devil trying to enter your home, husband and wife, please seek to be united. [00:38:33]
A church is a blessed church where the elders are united. We don't have to agree on everything. Be united in our spirit even if we disagree on some matters. Unity in the spirit. There's a beautiful example of this in Exodus. Here is a picture of how the devil can be defeated. [00:39:28]
