Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Peter begins this letter first of all by introducing himself. Simon Peter, by the way, isn't that sort of interesting just how he introduced himself using the name Simon Peter. [00:27:02]

Peter says you can have the same faith that I have because sometimes we think the true faith or - assurance would be a matter of touching a matter of seeing with our eyeballs a matter of hearing with our eardrums and Peter says no it's not about that it's about the work of faith that God does in the heart. [02:58:28]

Grace and peace be multiplied to you and the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises. [05:41:62]

Knowing God is the key to all things that pertain to life and godliness. Do you want to unlock the key to life? Do you want to unlock the key to unlock the key? No, you don't unlock a key. Do you want the key for the lock of godliness? Do you want the key to the lock of things that make for everything in life? [08:01:69]

We come to the knowledge of him how through the Word of God through prayer through the community of God's people. Now let me stress that one through the community of God's people we need God alone but God does not come to us merely alone God often chooses to meet us in the community of his people. [09:41:69]

As believers in Jesus in some way and I'm gonna admit this I cannot fully describe this I don't even think I can partially describe it but in some way as believers in Jesus Christ brothers and sisters we share in the very nature of God. [13:09:73]

Giving all diligence add to your faith virtue to virtue knowledge to knowledge self-control to self-control perseverance to perseverance godliness to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love. Now he gives this list add to your faith virtue it progresses from virtue into knowledge from knowledge into self-control. [17:21:00]

For if these things are yours and abound you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ for he who lacks these things is short-sighted even to blindness and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. [19:44:47]

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure for if you do these things you'll never stumble for so an entrance will be supplied to abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. [25:15:47]

For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ but were eyewitnesses of his majesty for he received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to him from the everlasting for the much Jimmy from the excellent glory. [34:13:89]

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts knowing this first that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation for prophecy never came by the will of man. [38:44:44]

Prophecy never came by the will of man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. See even in Peters own day enemies of Jesus twisted Old Testament prophecies giving them personal and bizarre meanings they were attempting to exclude Jesus from their fulfillment. [44:41:91]
