Embracing New Horizons: Prioritizing God's Kingdom
Devotional
Day 1: Casting Burdens with Intentional Faith
The act of casting our burdens onto the Lord is not a passive gesture but a deliberate and forceful action. It involves recognizing the lies and deceptions that weigh us down, such as feelings of lack and impossibility, and choosing to throw them onto the Lord. This act of faith invites God's sustaining power into our lives, ensuring that we remain unshaken in our faith. By trusting in His promise to sustain us, we align ourselves with His strength and provision, allowing us to stand firm against the challenges we face. [00:02:00]
Psalm 55:22 (ESV): "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."
Reflection: What specific burden are you carrying today that you need to cast onto the Lord? How can you intentionally and forcefully release it to Him in prayer?
Day 2: Embracing New Horizons with Courage
We are in a season where God is expanding our vision and perception, calling us to embrace new horizons. This requires us to stretch our faith and trust in His guidance as He leads us into new dimensions. As we step into this season of change, we are encouraged to adopt new strategies to reach the world, particularly through media and digital platforms. This expansion is not just about increasing our reach but ensuring that the truth and light of God's word are accessible to all. [00:10:00]
Isaiah 43:19 (ESV): "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
Reflection: What new horizon is God calling you to embrace in your life? How can you step out in faith to pursue this new direction with courage?
Day 3: Aligning Heart and Treasure
Jesus teaches that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also. This principle challenges us to examine our priorities and ensure that we are seeking heavenly treasures over earthly ones. By prioritizing the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we align our hearts with His will, trusting that all other things will be added to us. This is a call to evaluate what we truly value and to make God preeminent in our lives. [01:11:40]
Matthew 6:21 (ESV): "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Reflection: What earthly treasures are competing for your heart's attention? How can you realign your priorities to seek God's kingdom first?
Day 4: Breaking Free from the Power of Mammon
To break the power of mammon, we must seek first the kingdom of God. This involves prioritizing God's kingdom and His righteousness above all else, trusting Him to meet all our needs and provide abundantly. By doing so, we free ourselves from the grip of materialism and the false security it offers, allowing us to experience true freedom and provision in Christ. [01:26:48]
Luke 16:13 (ESV): "No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."
Reflection: In what ways have you allowed the pursuit of material wealth to overshadow your pursuit of God's kingdom? How can you begin to shift your focus today?
Day 5: Committing to God's Kingdom with Action
Participating in the "seek first" initiative is a practical step in prioritizing God's kingdom with our time and resources. This act of faith aligns our hearts with God's will and invites His supernatural provision into our lives. By making a commitment to prioritize God's kingdom, we demonstrate our trust in His ability to meet all our needs and our willingness to be used for His purposes. [01:37:57]
Colossians 3:2 (ESV): "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth."
Reflection: What specific action can you take today to demonstrate your commitment to prioritizing God's kingdom? How can you use your time and resources to further His purposes?
Sermon Summary
In today's gathering, we explored the profound spiritual principle of casting our burdens onto the Lord, as highlighted in Psalm 55:22. This act is not a mere religious ritual but a powerful spiritual principle that transforms our natural circumstances. The word "cast" implies a forceful throwing away of our burdens, which are often lies from the enemy suggesting lack and impossibility. When we cast our burdens onto the Lord, He promises to sustain us and ensure that we, the righteous, will not be moved. This is a call to action, a step of faith that invites the supernatural into our lives.
We also delved into the concept of new horizons, a season where God is expanding our vision and perception. This is a time to stretch our faith and embrace the new dimensions God is leading us into. As a church, we are stepping into a season of change, with new strategies to reach the world through media and digital platforms. This is not just about expanding our reach but about ensuring that the truth and light of God's word are accessible to all.
In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches us about the importance of the heart's attitude. He emphasizes that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also. This is a call to prioritize heavenly treasures over earthly ones, to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. By doing so, all other things will be added to us. This is a challenge to examine our priorities and ensure that God is preeminent in our lives.
We concluded with a practical application, inviting everyone to participate in a symbolic act of prioritizing God's kingdom. By filling out a "seek first" card, we are making a commitment to prioritize God's kingdom with our time and resources. This is not about legalism but about aligning our hearts with God's will and trusting Him to meet all our needs.

"We don't go through the motions religiously every week. We're a kingdom church. And that means it's very important that we don't allow tradition to steal the power or to make the word of God of no effect. So this prayer line was not a good idea that thought, oh, this will be cute on Sunday mornings. Let's do that and let people come up here and give someone a hug. No, this is a spiritual principle that we're unleashing that transforms and change the natural. Facts must bow to the, what? Truth." [00:33:21](28 seconds)

"So casting your burden on the Lord is followed by two promises. Then it goes on to say, and he will sustain you. So that means he sustains us. He's our source. And so whatever you need, the burden is a lie of the enemy saying you're in lack in an area. You have a burden because of maybe your children. And so there's a fear there that you think, well, what's going to happen to them? What if they don't serve the Lord? It might be a burden on your marriage. Well, what if my marriage fails or it doesn't, I don't break through. It doesn't come through a burden with your body. Whatever it is, it's the enemy saying it's impossible. It's not enough. You don't have enough and nothing can change the situation. So when you cast on the Lord, the Lord says, I will now be your sustainer in that moment. And then he goes on to say this, the righteous shall never be moved. He will not allow the righteous to be moved. What's the enemy do? He tries to move you off of the plan of God, the truth of God, the promise of God. So you're standing on a promise and the enemy comes immediately to discourage you and try to get you to forfeit that territory." [00:34:11](64 seconds)

"And many times in scripture, the Bible says that faith is an act. Faith works. Faith moves. And so you can stay in your seat and hope the burden comes off, or you can step down here as a sign of faith and cast your burden over on the Lord. Galatians 6 .1 says to bear one another's burdens. So this prayer team here is not some higher level than you or God likes them more. All they're doing is helping take that burden off of you and helping you cast that burden over on the Lord. Then he will sustain you. Then he will not allow the righteous to be moved. So as we call you up for the prayer, whatever it is, you might be standing in prayer for somebody else, but don't let the enemy paralyze you and keep you in his plan. You have to move the natural first and expect God to do the supernatural. So are you in agreement with me that miracles are going to take place today? We're going to do it in God's way. All right. So let's go into that song again. And I want you to just come up here if you need prayer for anything. And we're going to give the burden to the Lord. We're going to cast it on the Lord. And we're going to watch the sustaining power of God go to work. Come on. Let's worship." [00:35:35](65 seconds)

"We are in a season of new horizons. If you were not here at the beginning of the year, every year I pray about a vision, a direction for the year. I will not fake it if God doesn't say it. So, don't worry. I'm not just like guaranteed every year there's a theme. But as we were praying last year, we're in a year of open doors, God opening doors that no man can open, closing doors, excuse me, opening doors that no man can shut, and closing doors that no man can open. And I just felt like the Lord just advanced us this year to when you walk through an open door that God sets before you, then you go into a new dimension. There's a new horizon. That means your perception. The word horizon means the extent of your perception." [00:58:38](37 seconds)

"In this new season, you're going to be seeing what you couldn't see before. And if you can see it, God told Abraham, I'll give it to you. In other words, if your faith can grasp it, then I can do it on the outside. That's why you have to expand internally, come on, before God expands anything externally in your life. And that's the goal of Life's Church. Even this morning, I want to challenge you this morning to not be comfortable or stay where you are or just be stuck in a rut. But I want to stretch your faith a little bit so that we can embrace these new horizons this year. And one of the things that's happening, I told you a lot of things have been happening behind the scenes. In two weeks from now, we're having another special Sunday where we're going to announce something that's changing how we do what we do in a major way. And so, I don't know. We might just every few weeks have a Sunday of announcements. Maybe we'll be announcing a building soon. Who knows? We might be announcing whatever you're believing for soon. Okay, I want to tell you that if you didn't know last week, we now have the software and the hardware." [00:59:54](59 seconds)

"Jesus kind of corrected them like this. He says, you like to clean the outside of the cup, but the inside of the cup is full of dead man's bones. It's filthy. It's dead inside. What is he saying? He's saying you like to talk the talk, look a certain way, act a certain way, but there's no power of transformation on the inside. And so it's important that we don't just talk about the power of God, the goodness of God, the love of God, the faithfulness of God, but that we experience and see demonstration of the power of God, the goodness of God, the faithfulness of God. I don't know about you, but if I'm reading Scripture and I see God did something for another generation that I'm not seeing in my generation, it upsets me sometimes. I'm like, how is the book of Acts so exciting, so many miracles, God's doing all these things, and we're not seeing more of that in this generation? And so we're going from just conversation to demonstration in this season. That's kingdom." [01:06:05](50 seconds)

"Jesus is saying, look, it's not just out here. There's a spiritual root to it. And also what was he saying? He was saying, what I am now telling you, the standard of my kingdom is beyond your ability to keep. Come on, let's just, we're going to do this together, and I'm going to show you how worldly some of the people in Life's Church are. I want you to be honest. Don't hold back. How many of you have ever, maybe not now, but been in a season in your life where you actually felt hate for somebody? Let's raise your hand. You were so mad and so bitter at them. Okay. Some of you might think I have a great reason for that. If I told you the story, Pastor, and that happened to you, and they did that to you, you would hate that person." [01:07:17](37 seconds)

"So according to Jesus, you've already committed murder. Right? And then he goes on to say, you shouldn't commit adultery, but even if you lust after a woman. I don't know why I say lust after a woman, because women also can be tempted too. Let's just say this. Even if you have internal desire that is improper, lust inside for somebody, you've already committed adultery. What's he saying? Jesus is saying, you can't keep the level of the commandment of the law. You need a Savior. You need a higher dimension to go to. You need grace that is power beyond your power." "So for some reason, there's a lot of Christians that try to still serve Jesus with an old covenant empowerment. And it's mental. And we're like, well, I'm just going to be a better person. I'm going to try harder. I'm going to do better next time. If you're in your own strength, you will say that prayer a thousand times, and she'll be coming around the mountain when she comes. And every time, you'll be like, Lord, I thank you. Never again. Lord, never again. Okay, from this moment forward, Lord, I will never hate again. I will never cuss somebody out again. I will never do this again. I will never smoke that again or do that again. And you are now in a fleshly way trying to uphold the standard of the kingdom. Jesus said, hey, what I'll do, I will do it in the flesh. I will destroy the authority of the flesh. And when you're in me, then you will be able to rise above in a higher dimension and have every higher dimension has authority over the lower dimension. So we're going to lift you a little bit today. So Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6, he's talking about the heart, the inside." [01:10:05](54 seconds)

"So this idol of mammon is a false source that we can be deceived into looking to. What's the Bible say? The worship of money or the worship of mammon. That idol of mammon is the root of all evil. Why? Because you open yourself up to all evil things when you disconnect from God and you embrace another source in your life. You're saying, God, I don't need what you have. I'll take whatever the enemy has. Verse 25, therefore, I say to you, don't worry. Take no thought is what worry means. Let me say it another way. Don't worry means don't be distracted about your life. And he goes on to say what you'll eat or what you'll wear, what you'll drink. What's he saying? He's saying all the things of this life, don't be distracted by that." [01:26:19](41 seconds)
