Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

And at the final seconds of the year, the crowd, of course, as always happens, will chant in unison, 10, 9, 8, every second feels electric, every second feels significant, 7, 6, 5, and then when the countdown reaches zero, the world will erupt in celebration. It happens every year. In those final seconds, everyone is focused, everyone is fully present, and every second feels significant. [00:35:46] (39 seconds)

You see, our time and the way that we spend our time determines not just what we do in the world, but it also determines who we become. And so, today, I want to talk about how we can live intentionally in the time that we have, not just counting the seconds, but making the seconds count. [00:36:45] (22 seconds)

No matter where you come from or who you are, time just ticks slowly away. We can't do that. We can't stop it. We can't control it. Although we, in our naive attempts, try to manage time, but the truth is we can never manage time. We can only manage ourselves. [00:37:18] (20 seconds)

Kairos, however, refers to a decisive, opportune moment. Kairos is the space where things converge for something significant to happen, and it is not measured by seconds. It's measured by meaning. [00:39:20] (18 seconds)

So kairos moments often carry a sense of urgency or opportunity, and they can be moments of crisis or a moment of decision where our response can change the trajectory of our life. And so, when Jesus says, the time has come toそれ Ouch, it means we can actually change the trajectory of our lives or even the whole world. [00:40:18] (21 seconds)

In that moment, I realized how precious every day is. Even the seemingly ordinary. Ordinary days. In a Kairos moment, I was changed. With a perspective that I carry with me every single day. You see, the value of an increment of time is not related to its duration, but its depth. [00:42:45] (30 seconds)

Make the most of every opportunity. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. So, make the most of every opportunity. [00:43:57] (13 seconds)

What decision do you need to make this year? What next right step have you been putting off that you know you need to take? It's the small kairos moments that add up to a life well lived. Okay. [00:48:23] (21 seconds)

And when we do that, we are locked in kairos and it's very difficult to see or experience the kairos moments. Now, I have a confession to make here. My calendar often looks... Looks like a color -coded masterpiece with meetings and engagements unpacked back -to -back, neatly shaded in their own colors, you know, staff meetings in blue, personal appointments in green, to -dos in yellow, sometimes it's almost beautiful. [00:49:09] (34 seconds)

You see, to live intentionally, we have to take control of our calendar. Not just scheduling tasks, but also making sure that we are taking time for the things that truly matter. And then we need to remember that our time is a gift. Our time is a gift here. And it doesn't last forever. Each one of us, the day is going to come when our clock will stop ticking. [00:52:56] (27 seconds)

Because a life well lived is not measured in the quantity of time that we're given. A life well lived is measured in the quality of that time. A kairos life is. In a chronos world. So how you choose to spend your time matters because your time is your life and your life is incredibly valuable. So valuable that Jesus gave his life for you. [00:54:02] (32 seconds)

In that Kairos moment, Jesus surrendered to the greatest evil ever done on planet earth. And he was not defeated by it, but he overcame it through sacrificial love. That was the defining Kairos moment in all of human history. And in that moment, Jesus chose courage, humility, and trust. [00:56:11] (24 seconds)
