Embracing Jesus: Our Source of Strength and Victory
Summary
In today's message, we explored the profound truth that Jesus is the ultimate answer to all of life's challenges. We began by acknowledging our deep need for Jesus, recognizing that our dependence on Him should mirror the complete reliance of a newborn on their parents. This dependency is not a sign of weakness but a testament to our faith and trust in His divine plan. We often find ourselves trying to solve problems on our own, only turning to Jesus as a last resort. However, the call is to seek Him first, to trust in His timing, and to surrender our independence for a life of faith.
We delved into the concept of being overcomers through Christ. As believers, we have already been given the victory through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Yet, many of us live beneath this privilege, shackled by the lies of the enemy. The devil, the master of deception, often convinces us that we are still in a battle that has already been won. Our challenge is to break free from these lies and embrace our identity as overcomers, living in the fullness of the victory that Jesus has secured for us.
We also discussed the importance of recognizing Jesus not just as the Son of Man but as the Son of God, full of power and glory. This duality is crucial for understanding His role in our lives. Jesus is not a genie to grant our every wish but the sovereign Lord who holds the keys to life and death. Our faith must be steadfast, even when prayers seem unanswered, trusting that His plans are perfect and His timing impeccable.
Finally, we were reminded of the power of our testimony. Our lives should reflect the transformative work of Christ, and our words should boldly proclaim His lordship. Sharing our testimony is not just a duty but a privilege, as it can lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains.
Key Takeaways:
- Dependence on Jesus: Just as a newborn is entirely dependent on their parents, we must learn to rely wholly on Jesus. This dependence is a sign of faith, acknowledging that we don't have all the answers and need His guidance in every aspect of our lives. [52:47]
- Living as Overcomers: As believers, we have already overcome through Christ's victory on the cross. However, we often live beneath this privilege, believing the enemy's lies. We must embrace our identity as overcomers and live in the fullness of this truth. [59:17]
- Recognizing Jesus' Dual Nature: Understanding Jesus as both the Son of Man and the Son of God is crucial. He is not just a gentle teacher but the powerful Lord who holds the keys to life and death. Our faith should be rooted in this duality, trusting His sovereignty. [01:11:19]
- The Power of Testimony: Our testimony is a powerful tool for sharing the gospel. We must boldly proclaim what Jesus has done in our lives, allowing others to see His transformative power. This is not just a duty but a privilege that can lead others to salvation. [01:17:05]
- Eternal Perspective: We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. Our focus should be on the promises of God, trusting that even if blessings don't come in this life, they await us in eternity. [01:19:19]

Devotional
Day 1: Total Dependence on Jesus
In life, we often strive for independence, believing that self-reliance is a strength. However, true spiritual maturity is marked by a complete dependence on Jesus, much like a newborn relies on their parents for everything. This dependence is not a sign of weakness but a profound acknowledgment of our need for His guidance and wisdom in every aspect of our lives. By seeking Jesus first and trusting in His timing, we align ourselves with His divine plan, which is always perfect. This requires surrendering our independence and embracing a life of faith, where we trust that Jesus is the ultimate answer to all our challenges. [52:47]
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV)
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you are trying to solve problems on your own? How can you begin to rely more on Jesus in this area today?
Day 2: Embracing Our Identity as Overcomers
As believers, we have been given victory through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Yet, many live beneath this privilege, shackled by the lies of the enemy. The devil often deceives us into believing that we are still in a battle that has already been won. Our challenge is to break free from these lies and embrace our identity as overcomers. By living in the fullness of the victory that Jesus has secured for us, we can experience the freedom and power that comes with being a child of God. This requires a conscious effort to reject the enemy's deceptions and to stand firm in the truth of our victory in Christ. [59:17]
"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." (1 John 5:4, ESV)
Reflection: What lies of the enemy have you believed about your identity? How can you replace these lies with the truth of your victory in Christ today?
Day 3: Understanding Jesus' Dual Nature
Recognizing Jesus as both the Son of Man and the Son of God is crucial for understanding His role in our lives. He is not just a gentle teacher but the powerful Lord who holds the keys to life and death. This duality is essential for a robust faith, as it reminds us that Jesus is sovereign over all things. Our faith should be rooted in this understanding, trusting that His plans are perfect and His timing impeccable, even when our prayers seem unanswered. By acknowledging His dual nature, we can deepen our relationship with Him and trust in His divine authority. [01:11:19]
"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority." (Colossians 2:9-10, ESV)
Reflection: How does recognizing Jesus' dual nature as both human and divine change the way you approach Him in prayer and daily life?
Day 4: The Transformative Power of Testimony
Our testimony is a powerful tool for sharing the gospel and reflecting the transformative work of Christ in our lives. By boldly proclaiming what Jesus has done for us, we allow others to see His power and grace. Sharing our testimony is not just a duty but a privilege, as it can lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus. We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. By focusing on the promises of God, we can inspire others to seek the same hope and salvation that we have found in Christ. [01:17:05]
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8, ESV)
Reflection: What specific story from your life can you share with someone this week to demonstrate the transformative power of Jesus?
Day 5: Living with an Eternal Perspective
We are called to live with an eternal perspective, valuing our heavenly inheritance over earthly gains. This means focusing on the promises of God and trusting that even if blessings don't come in this life, they await us in eternity. By prioritizing our relationship with Jesus and His kingdom, we can find peace and purpose beyond the temporary struggles of this world. This eternal perspective helps us to navigate life's challenges with hope and assurance, knowing that our ultimate reward is in heaven. [01:19:19]
"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." (2 Corinthians 4:16-17, ESV)
Reflection: How can you shift your focus from temporary struggles to eternal promises today? What practical steps can you take to live with an eternal perspective?
Quotes
These babies are so small and so helpless. They don't even know what. They don't know what they need. They don't know how to survive. They don't know how to do anything. They are 100 % dependent. And while I'm sitting there, I feel a conviction. The Lord's like, do you, are you dependent on me like that? Are you willing to submit yourself and just lay up under me knowing that you don't even know what you need? [00:52:35] (25 seconds)
I believe sometimes we, we misunderstand. What our purpose is. Our purpose is to be here to surrender our lives. To surrender our lives. To Christ. This world celebrates independence. It celebrates. me being able to do it myself so I could proclaim that I didn't need anybody's help. I did it all on my own. I'm successful because of me. [00:54:58] (26 seconds)
But when you recognize who Jesus is and what he did for us, you understand that there is nothing that you have accomplished without him. We see it in society. Marriages are at a 50 -year low. People are not getting married. And when you ask these people who they survey, they said, if I get married, I'm going to have to give up my independence. [00:55:24] (23 seconds)
It seems like when things are going wrong, we try to fix it ourselves. And when things are going wrong, we try to fix it ourselves. And when things are going wrong, we call Jesus after we have exhausted all the possibilities. After we realize that we can't do it on our own. Jesus is saying, if you would just learn to call on me first. [00:56:02] (14 seconds)
Those of us who have accepted Christ, John says that we have overcome already. It is a birthright. That is a privilege that comes with accepting Jesus. The problem is that there is a disconnect because sometimes we have forgotten our birthright and we are living beneath that privilege. We have the ability to overcome and we are doing it, but sometimes life circumstances get in the way. [00:59:21] (29 seconds)
Sometimes our circumstances say that we are overwhelmed and we're stressed and we're too worried about what tomorrow is going to bring that we forget who our savior is. We have to understand that we are more than overcomers. I hear it time and time again that we have not accepted everything that comes with that privilege of being saved. The devil has us in bondage. [01:00:10] (31 seconds)
You can be saved and accepted Christ and not be an overcomer you can be saved spirit filled and not living your life as an overcomer why because we believe the lies that the devil have told us today we want to break free of that bondage today we want to stop believing those lies so overcome means to prevail to win to be victorious of a cause during a particular difficult and challenging circumstance [01:01:32] (36 seconds)
Can you resolve in yourself that if you don't receive that miracle on this side of heaven, that it's okay? Because I know where I'm going. And I know where my hope is. We need to be overcomers. It has nothing to do with our circumstance. I've been in education for 25 years. It's hard to believe. It's more than half my life almost. [01:07:30] (24 seconds)
We have to start seeing Jesus in a new light. I think sometimes we forget that he's also the son of God, but we look at him as the son of man only. We have to understand that he's both of those things. He came as the son of man, but don't forget that he's also the son of God full of power and glory. We have to remember that. [01:11:27] (23 seconds)
And they conquered him, meaning the devil, by the blood of the lamb. And the word of their testimony. For they love not their lives even unto death. Number one, the cross has to be my identifying source. It has to be my identifying source. When people look at me, they need to see Jesus. If they look at me and they see a coach and they see an educator, then I have failed in representing Christ. [01:16:29] (27 seconds)
Why is it not just enough to say God is because God has given the power to Jesus. He says, at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. At the name of Jesus, every tongue shall confess that he is Lord to the glory of God the Father. See, you don't want to be the first time that you confess Christ to be on that. You don't want to be the first time that your knee hits the ground to confess that he's Lord on that day because it's too late. [01:18:14] (27 seconds)
