Embracing Jesus' Kingship Through Grace and Commission

Summary

### Summary

Good morning, church. Today, we are reminded of the eternal truth that Jesus is King. From the beginning, God had a plan to reclaim the authority on earth that Adam handed over to Satan. This plan was fulfilled through Jesus Christ, who not only saved mankind but also reinstated us as God's representatives on earth. After His resurrection, Jesus declared that all authority in heaven and on earth had been given to Him and commissioned His disciples to make disciples of all nations. This commission is a call for us to be the rightful stewards of the earth, applying God's rule and bringing forth the gospel to glorify Him.

We live in an era where the knowledge and glory of God are to cover the earth, and we, the church, are called to apply God's kingdom and purposes. The biggest lie Satan could tell us is that we can do nothing about the world's state. However, we are called to apply God's kingship in our lives, families, and communities. The Apostle Paul understood this and labored to bring forth the kingship of Christ, starting with churches that would reach cities and apply God's word to society.

The secret to fulfilling this calling lies in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace is not just for salvation but is essential for living out our purpose and calling. It is the supernatural enablement that allows us to bring the kingdom of God into our personal lives, families, and cities. Paul emphasized that by the grace of God, he was what he was, and this grace is available to us as well.

Grace is unmerited, undeserved favor from God. It is what enables us to grow in maturity, overcome challenges, and fulfill our calling. Jesus became everything we were so that through His obedience and resurrection, we could receive everything He is. This grace is sufficient for all our needs, and we are invited to grow and multiply in it.

In times of weakness, God's grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in our weakness. We are encouraged to ask for more grace in every situation we face, whether it be physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual. God's grace is the answer to all our needs, and it enables us to live the Christian life effectively.

Day 1: Jesus' Kingship and Our Commission
Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth, and He has commissioned us to make disciples of all nations. This commission calls us to be the rightful stewards of the earth, applying God's rule and bringing forth the gospel to glorify Him. We are not powerless; we are called to apply God's kingship in our lives and communities. This means actively participating in God's mission, understanding that we have been given the authority to influence and transform our surroundings through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are to be the light in the darkness, bringing hope and truth to a world in need.

[01:55]

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV): "And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'"

Reflection: What specific steps can you take today to apply God's kingship in your community? How can you actively participate in making disciples and spreading the gospel?

Day 2: The Power of Grace
Grace is not just for salvation but is essential for living out our purpose and calling. It is the supernatural enablement that allows us to bring the kingdom of God into our personal lives, families, and cities. By the grace of God, we can grow in maturity and fulfill our calling. Grace empowers us to overcome obstacles and challenges that we face in our daily lives. It is through grace that we find the strength to persevere and the wisdom to navigate life's complexities. Grace is the fuel that drives our spiritual growth and effectiveness in God's kingdom.

[05:17]

2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV): "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Reflection: In what areas of your life do you need to rely more on God's grace? How can you seek His supernatural enablement to fulfill your calling today?

Day 3: Unmerited Favor
Grace is unmerited, undeserved favor from God. It is what enables us to grow in maturity, overcome challenges, and fulfill our calling. Jesus became everything we were so that through His obedience and resurrection, we could receive everything He is. This unmerited favor means that we do not earn God's grace; it is freely given to us. It is a gift that transforms our lives and empowers us to live in a way that honors God. Understanding and accepting this grace allows us to live with confidence and assurance in God's love and provision.

[09:32]

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV): "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Reflection: How does understanding grace as unmerited favor change your perspective on your relationship with God? What can you do today to embrace and live out this grace more fully?

Day 4: Grace in Weakness
In times of weakness, God's grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in our weakness. We are encouraged to ask for more grace in every situation we face, whether it be physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual. God's grace is the answer to all our needs, and it enables us to live the Christian life effectively. When we acknowledge our weaknesses and rely on God's grace, we experience His strength and power in ways that we could never achieve on our own. This reliance on grace leads to a deeper dependence on God and a more profound experience of His presence in our lives.

[24:41]

Isaiah 40:29-31 (ESV): "He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

Reflection: What is one area of weakness in your life where you need to experience God's grace? How can you invite His strength into that area today?

Day 5: Living by Grace
Our Christian life is lived out by the grace of God. We need to continually ask for God's grace to meet us in every situation. Whether we face physical issues, sin, or emotional struggles, God's grace is sufficient and enables us to live effectively for Him. Living by grace means recognizing our dependence on God and seeking His help in every aspect of our lives. It is through grace that we find the ability to overcome sin, heal from emotional wounds, and navigate the challenges of life with faith and hope.

[30:15]

Hebrews 4:16 (ESV): "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

Reflection: How can you make seeking God's grace a daily habit? What practical steps can you take to draw near to the throne of grace and receive His help in your time of need?

### Quotes for outreach

1. "The grace of God, usually we apply it to salvation. It is so much more. And I don't want you to lose sight of this reality of God's grace. Yes, it was the grace of God that made it possible for you to enter and to have salvation and be brought into the family of God, to be clothed in the righteousness of Jesus for your identity, to be totally changed, to be taken from a kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of his light, to be given a new, a new life, born again. New life." [06:23] (34 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "Think about even how you came into the kingdom of God. While you were yet sinners, Christ died for you. Scripture says we were enemies of God. And then the grace of God is shown and placed on your life. And you begin to experience through the third person of the Holy Spirit, the grace of God that reveals to you you're actually a sinner. And then reveal, not only does he point out the problem, he then by the grace of God shows you the solution. And that solution is that Jesus was the final sacrifice for all. All sin." 3. "What would a church and Christians look like who actually believed what Jesus said, that nothing is impossible? But this understanding of who you are is deeply anchored and rooted in this, the grace. It is all about this. This grace. When the Apostle Paul, he was in Athens, and they were a very well-learned people. And he, understanding that, knowing that they were trusting a lot in their own mindset, which is actually what happened during the French Revolution as well, they decided that they want to remove the laws and structures." 4. "God's grace enables you to do things that you didn't even know were possible. God's grace is, we don't make decisions based off of, you know, if God wants to use this, well, that's too above me or too below me. None of that matters. It's God, have you given me the grace to do this? If the answer is yes, then you do it. In Acts chapter four, the day of Pentecost, you see these in a very hostile situation. This is what the Bible says. With great power, the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace was upon them." 5. "Maybe you've prayed and asked God to, to move something and you haven't heard anything. Maybe God wants his grace to meet you so that he can be glorified through your weakness. Instead of trying to pray the weakness away, why don't you just pray God's grace over it let God do what he does. So right where you are, just spend a moment with your, your hearts bowed before the Lord and ask him for grace. Ask him, is it a physical issue? Just begin to say, Lord, I need your grace. Is it a sin issue? Lord, I need your grace." [30:15] (72 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

### Quotes for members

1. "The rightful stewards of the earth to bring forth, and steward means to do things in the manner in which God would do them, and to bring forth the gospel as well as applying back God's rule to the earth, to bring him glory and to bring him honor. Because Jesus, as he ascended, he was seated at the right hand of the Father, and the earth is his footstool and everything in it. And we are living in the age in which... The knowledge and the glory of God is to cover the earth like waters cover the sea. And you, the church, are the ones who are called to apply God's kingdom and purposes on the earth." 2. "The apostle Paul understood this idea, and he labored to bring forth the kingship of Christ on the earth. And he started with beachheads called churches. That he would start them, plant them, and then from that church, those cities were reached and God's word was applied to society and to communities. And when God's word is applied to mankind, they are always blessed. There is no word of God that's applied to humanity that because that has been applied, their lives have become worse. Now, there's discipline from God, there's judgment at times, but God's word applied." [04:30] (45 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "You growing up in maturity is by the grace of God. You getting saved is by the grace of God. Any steps you take as you grow, as you become more like Jesus is not because of your efforts. It's by the grace of God. The apostle Paul says this in first Corinthians chapter 15, he says, by the grace of God, I am what I am. So this grace is what, it's what enables us. It's what, it's what works in us. It's what we must understand. And many of us don't, don't understand that we can and are invited by God to grow in grace in our lives as we face situations." 4. "The grace of God doesn't need your efforts. He needs a willing vessel. But most, but most would be like, well, I mean, I'm just up the creek without a paddle. I want to challenge you that you would start asking God for grace in this situation. Knowledge, give me grace, Lord. Instead of running your list of can't do it, how about ask God for his grace in the midst of it and say, like, God, let's, will you do this? And his grace will be sufficient. His grace is sufficient. And so what is it that you're facing? What is it? What is it that you're struggling with?" [28:07] (49 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5. "The apostle Paul had a need and it was something in his flesh. And I don't know the sovereignty of God and why God heals some and some he gives the grace to deal with. I don't understand all of that. One day, maybe, but the apostle Paul in second Corinthians verse chapter 12, seven and eight, he says, a thorn was given to me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me. Now, when I read that, I go, well, then will you rebuke that dumb Satan? He says, a messenger of Satan was given to me, but look why, this is wild, to keep me from becoming conceited."
