i imagine that the air was filled with anticipation this unique blend of hope and and unease as jesus approached jerusalem and before jesus enters the city he gets this view from the mount of olives and he can look down and he can see the whole valley as it's laid before him and not only can he see the city but he can see every single location that the holy week is going to take place in every place he's going to be every single thing that's going to happen this next week he can see it see this is what jesus was prepared for he knew what was coming [00:33:37] (55 seconds)

and so knowing all this he entered the city not riding a war horse a stallion a symbol of earthly power but a humble donkey fulfilling Zechariah's prophecy of a righteous king arriving in peace and we looked at it in those verses earlier but I want to read it again this is Zechariah 9 9 rejoice greatly daughter Zion shout daughter Jerusalem see your king comes to you righteous and victorious lowly and riding on a donkey on a colt the foal of a donkey this act alone just coming in on that donkey already positions him as an outsider to the establishment [00:36:46] (46 seconds)

however the religious authorities they viewed him with growing suspicion they didn't trust Jesus his radical teachings his challenges to their traditions his increasing popularity that threatened their authority their ability to have control over the people was now threatened they saw not a hero but a dangerous agitator a blasphemer and by the end of this very week their fears would culminate in the ultimate accusation sedition against Rome what's the sentence for this act does anybody know death sedition against Rome if you come up against Rome [00:40:46] (58 seconds)

The tapestry begins with these vibrant, joyous threads of brilliant greens, sunny yellows, palm branches, symbols of victory and royalty. Shouts of Hosanna echo like bright stitches across the fabric as Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey. These threads of the tapestry are thick with hope and anticipation, and they depict the crowds acknowledging him as the Messiah, as their king. Next is the cleansing of the temple. And abruptly the colors shift, strong threads of righteous anger. A deep crimson, a red. [00:41:59] (50 seconds)

The next threads are the washing of the disciples' feet. A thread of humble service. A gentle linen of white is carefully woven into the scene of the Last Supper. Jesus kneels to wash the feet of his disciples and that's threaded in there. It's a powerful act of humility, a lesson of selfless love. And it stands out in its simplicity as Jesus knelt and washed the feet. Next is the Garden of Gethsemane. The tapestry kind of darkens considerably as as Jesus is there praying. [00:45:00] (53 seconds)

Each preceding event, each carefully woven thread, so carefully planned and executed with God's perfect timing. From a donkey to a kiss. Jesus knew what he was getting into. I tried to use AI to create this description of the tapestry. I was going to put it up on the screen for you. But it just didn't work. I tried several different ways for it to create this graphic for me. And every time it just came out with palm branches and smiling people. [00:46:49] (42 seconds)

The second Holy Week lesson we can apply to our our lives daily is recognize and respond to god's presence the event i'm talking about is the palm sunday entrance of jesus look at john 12 12 and 13 on your screen up there the next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that jesus was on his way to jerusalem they took palm branches and went out to meet him shouting hosanna blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord blessed is the king of israel the crowds recognized jesus even if their understanding of him was incomplete [00:50:51] (37 seconds)

The best way for us to apply Jesus' example in our lives is to become and remain people of outstanding moral character. And to stand up for what is right as it's revealed in Scripture. Because sometimes we can stand up for the wrong things. Let's let Scripture guide us. Let's let the Bible tell us what is right. Not what the world labels as right, because there are times where those two things are diametrically opposed. Stand up in righteousness, not in conceit, not in arrogance. [00:56:07] (48 seconds)

We should seek the truth and we should be willing to engage in conversation. Even when it's difficult. Talking about Jesus can be difficult. It can be hard. Not because Jesus is an amazing Savior, but because this world doesn't believe that. And that makes it hard. We should strive to share our wisdom and our understanding with others. Teaching the truth should be non -optional, meaning you don't get an option. You teach the truth, right? Not anything else. There is no other choice. [00:57:59] (48 seconds)

We shouldn't be swayed by popular opinion. We shouldn't be swayed by politicians. We shouldn't be swayed by social media influencers. We shouldn't be swayed by TikTok X Facebook whatever it is the new trend. We shouldn't be swayed by those things. See, our true allegiance should be to our values and to God. Even when it's unpopular and I gotta tell you that's gonna be the majority of the time. Being aligned with God and his values is gonna be the unpopular thing 99 .9 % of the time [01:08:54] (48 seconds)
