A heart that honors God and others leads to lasting legacy and blessing. When we choose to keep our hearts right—free from bitterness, pride, or resentment—and honor those around us, we open the door for God’s favor to rest upon our lives. Honor is not just a feeling but an action, reflected in how we treat our families, our friends, and even those who may oppose us. The principle of honor is foundational; it is the first commandment with a promise, and it brings restoration, unity, and blessing. As we honor God and others, we reflect His character and invite His presence into our circumstances. [01:00:10]
Exodus 20:12 (ESV)
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
Reflection: Who is someone in your life you can intentionally honor today—through words, actions, or prayer—and how might that act of honor bring restoration or blessing to your relationship?
Standing firm against negative voices and false narratives is essential to living out God’s purpose. In life, just as in sports, there will always be critics, opposition, and voices that try to discourage or distract us from our calling. The key is to not let these voices take root in our minds or hearts. Instead, we must stay focused on God’s truth, His promises, and the game plan He has set before us. When we refuse to let the enemy get in our head, we protect our peace and remain steadfast in our mission, trusting that God will vindicate and guide us through every challenge. [42:49]
Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Reflection: What negative thought or outside voice do you need to silence today in order to stay focused on God’s truth and purpose for your life?
A spirit of perseverance and doing your best, no matter the circumstances, shapes your character and inspires others. Life will present obstacles, setbacks, and moments when quitting seems easier than pressing on. But greatness is forged in the fire of perseverance—when you choose to give your all, encourage those around you, and refuse to let adversity define you. This attitude not only leads to personal growth but also uplifts those who journey with you, creating a legacy of resilience and hope. [01:00:10]
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you feel tempted to give up, and what is one step you can take today to persevere and encourage someone else in the process?
Trusting God as the ultimate healer while also embracing the blessings of medicine and medical breakthroughs reflects faith and wisdom. God works through both the miraculous and the practical, and He invites us to pray over every means of healing—whether it’s medicine, doctors, or divine intervention. Like the woman in Mark 5 who reached out to Jesus after exhausting all other options, we are called to keep reaching for Him, believing that He can bring restoration in ways we may not expect. As we do, we honor God’s sovereignty and His compassion for our suffering. [01:21:15]
Mark 5:25-34 (ESV)
“And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, ‘If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.’ And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched my garments?’ And his disciples said to him, ‘You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, “Who touched me?”’ And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.’”
Reflection: If you are facing a health challenge or supporting someone who is, how can you both pray for God’s healing and also embrace the practical help He provides through medicine or caregivers today?
Cultivating a heart of thanksgiving and recognizing God’s hand in every circumstance brings restoration and joy. Even in moments of adversity or uncertainty, choosing to look at life from God’s perspective and give thanks for His faithfulness opens our eyes to His ongoing work. Thanksgiving is not just a holiday but a posture of the heart that honors God, brings unity, and invites His blessing. When we pause to give thanks, we acknowledge that every good gift comes from Him and that He is present in every season—restoring, guiding, and providing for us. [01:03:48]
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Reflection: What is one specific circumstance—good or difficult—where you can pause and give thanks to God today, trusting that He is at work even if you can’t see the full picture yet?
What a joy it is to gather together and celebrate the unique journeys God has given each of us. Today, we reflected on the power of honor, perseverance, and faith—both in the everyday moments and in the extraordinary. Sharing stories from the world of football, family, and personal challenges, we saw how God weaves His purposes through our lives, often in ways we don’t expect. Whether it’s a child’s persistent prayer to meet a hero, or the journey of a professional athlete whose legacy is marked not just by talent but by heart, we are reminded that God honors those who honor Him and others.
We laughed about the “Neighborhood Football League” and the humble beginnings that shape us, but also recognized the deeper lessons that come from facing adversity. When the world throws criticism or false narratives our way, it’s tempting to let those voices get in our heads. Yet, we are called to stay true to God’s story for our lives, to not let the enemy define us, and to keep our hearts right. The example of standing firm, not answering critics, and letting our actions speak louder than words is a powerful testimony for all of us.
We also touched on the importance of family and the strength that comes from standing together through life’s challenges. Whether it’s a son facing a medical diagnosis or a family weathering public scrutiny, God’s faithfulness and the support of loved ones make all the difference. The story of medical challenges reminded us that God works through both the natural and the supernatural. We are encouraged to pray over our medicine, seek God’s healing, and trust Him for breakthroughs—knowing that He is the ultimate healer.
Finally, we celebrated the principle of honor—how it brings restoration, thanksgiving, and blessing. When we honor God, each other, and what is sacred, we open the door for God’s favor and restoration in our lives and our nation. Let us continue to be people who honor, persevere, and trust God for the impossible.
Whether it’s the game of football or the game of life, you’ve got to not let the enemy get in your head. You just can’t. And that’s really what was happening over this, like, five years of constant narratives that were coming at the people of this great country. And I just kept saying, you know, don’t let this stuff get in your head because if you do, you’ll start believing it, and that’s really what the – and it’ll change the game. And I knew that it would change the outcome of our country and a generation for our kids. And so I had to stay with the story. I had to stay with the game plan. That’s what God said to me. [00:43:29]
I’ve learned something. Don’t answer your critics is what I learned. You don’t owe it. How do you deal with it? [00:45:27]
I remember watching it from the house and Brenda, my wife Brenda and I, I mean we were in tears. I mean it was a beautiful picture of what happens when ultimately you keep your heart right, which you did, and it’s today why, like I said at beginning of this show, where number four is the most – I got to watch the right English – the most worn, where in other words, number four, it’s still today, I go to a lot of games with Matt, I love it, is the number four is the most worn number that you see. People really love you, they celebrate you, and Brett, but it’s also a testimony of the heart that God was trying to get after and the testimony of who you are today, but what you’ve become. [00:55:35]
Honor is so powerful, guys. It’s the first thing God said in his commandment is that we’re to honor the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, strength, and your heart never really left Green Bay, and that honor is why God gave you that opportunity. [00:56:28]
It’s one thing to be like Brett Favre in your playing because, I mean, he would literally make me watch video after video and go out in the backyard and try to teach him how to do that, and I finally said, Matt, I think you got it, just watch him. But I would say to Matt, I said, there’s one thing that Brett has that is very unique in a human being, and I remember saying this to you growing up, I said, Matt, he has a heart that no matter what he does, he’s going to do it with all his heart, and I said, and with that he has a no nonsense, I’m not going to quit, but I’m going to do my best at whatever’s handed to me and everybody that comes alongside, I’m gonna do my best to make them, you know, have their best also. [00:58:25]
That’s what’s going to make you great in life is never quit. Don’t let people force you to become something that you’re not. Don’t let them get in your head. This is a great program for this because this is what I told you growing up as you – this was your hero – and I said, you know, keep your heart right, Matt. Yeah, and Brett, you did, and it’s why God’s honoring you like he is and he’s going to continue. [00:59:08]
I look at things sometimes in life, maybe I’m a little weird, but I always look at things from God’s perspective. You know, I try to live my life that way, is what does God think? Why is this happening like this? [01:03:09]
The principle of honor that was in your heart, the principle of honor in the fans’ hearts, your family’s heart, your honor to Bart Starr there, all of it was about honor and thanksgiving. And I think, ultimately, God was smiling down, going, I want to bring a sense of honor and thanks. [01:03:24]
What honor does is it brings a sense of restoration. And that’s really why I, you know, we’ve talked about even President Trump and this, you know, why we have our country back is ultimately the people that honored God and honored one another, honored what is sacred, important, that, wow, we’re sitting back giving thanks and we’re sitting here going, look at what is happening now in our country. [01:03:53]
If people understand, why did God give a whole book to Luke? He was a physician. He traveled with the apostles, but Luke also documented a lot of the miracles of Jesus. So he documented as a medical doctor, a lot of the supernatural encounters of our Lord, because God is trying to say something very powerful. [01:20:46]
If we do have to take medicine or we have a certain diagnosis, I always say it’s just like taking food. You are to pray over it and say, Lord, this works with my body and not against it for healing and for a cure. But then at the same time, we should keep pressing for – if one woman in Mark five, who had an issue of blood for 12 years, she spent a lot of money at the hands of the doctor. And at the end of the day, she had no medical options. There was no medical cure, but she said, you know what? I got to reach for something else. I’ve got to reach for ultimately who’s the healer, whether he’s going to bless this type one diabetic research or Parkinson’s disease. I got to reach for him. [01:21:15]
Twelve years of frustration of a, of a hemorrhaging of an issue – immediately, it shifted in her whole body, her whole life. And so, you know, that’s what I want to encourage, not only you, Brett, but I know of John, my son, if you’re listening, or maybe our viewers today is, you know, keep, if you’re taking medicine, God has blessed the medical industry. Pray as you take that into your body, God, let this work with my body and not against it. [01:22:04]
Ultimately, Lord God, we look to you. There is no one that can match the greatness of the honor of who you are, God. There is no one that can match the greatness of your power, your mercy, your love, your kindness. Oh, and how about this, God, your forgiveness? [01:23:59]
Now, God, I ask you to continually silence the enemy concerning him. Continue to exonerate him, vindicate him, celebrate him, and bless him. And even his wife, God, who has stood, that woman knows you. Now, I’m asking you to answer the secret prayers that she prays, not only over her family, but, Lord, just the things that are on her heart now. [01:26:34]
I think a lot of times the reason why the defense put their hands up, Brett, is the way you would thread that ball between two, three, four defenders, man. I think they were like, I quit. I can’t, I, there’s nothing I can do, man. [00:39:26]
You know, I try to live my life that way, is what does God think? Why is this happening like this? And the fact that it was Thanksgiving is because I think, again, the principle of honor that was in your heart, the principle of honor in the fans’ hearts, your family’s heart, your honor to Bart Starr there, all of it was about honor and thanksgiving. [01:03:15]
If you do, you’ll start believing it, and that’s really what the – and it’ll change the game. And I knew that it would change the outcome of our country and a generation for our kids. And so I had to stay with the story. I had to stay with the game plan. That’s what God said to me. [00:43:49]
