Embracing Healing: Surrendering Burdens to Jesus
Summary
In today's gathering, we explored the profound and transformative power of healing through Jesus Christ. We began by reflecting on the story of Jesus standing on a level place, surrounded by a multitude seeking healing and comfort. This image of Jesus being accessible to all, regardless of their position in the crowd, serves as a powerful reminder that His healing power is available to everyone who seeks it. The essence of this message is that healing is not just physical but also emotional, mental, and spiritual. Many of us carry burdens from past traumas, broken relationships, and the harsh words spoken over us. These wounds can fester and grow if not addressed, leading to a life overshadowed by pain and resentment.
We acknowledged that everyone comes from a place of brokenness, and it is through recognizing this shared human condition that we can extend grace, mercy, and forgiveness to others. By seeing others through the eyes of God, we can understand their actions as manifestations of their own pain and brokenness. This understanding allows us to forgive and release the hold that past hurts have on our lives. Jesus, with His immense power, offers us the opportunity to hand over our burdens and find true healing. This act of surrender is not about condoning the wrongs done to us but about freeing ourselves from their control.
As we prepare for a service of healing, we are invited to reflect on what we need to release and offer to God. Whether it is anger, betrayal, or any other burden, we are encouraged to visualize handing it over to Jesus, allowing His healing power to cleanse and restore us. This process of letting go is essential for our spiritual growth and well-being. It is a journey of faith, where we trust in God's ability to heal and transform our lives.

Day 1: Healing is Holistic and Accessible to All
Healing through Jesus Christ is not limited to physical ailments but extends to emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. The image of Jesus standing on a level place, accessible to all, symbolizes His readiness to heal anyone who seeks Him. This accessibility is a profound reminder that no matter where we are in life, His healing power is available to us. Many carry burdens from past traumas, broken relationships, and harsh words, which can lead to a life overshadowed by pain and resentment. Jesus offers a path to wholeness and restoration, inviting us to bring all aspects of our brokenness to Him for healing. [13:56]
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-29, ESV)
Reflection: What area of your life feels most in need of Jesus' healing touch today? How can you invite Him into that space?
Day 2: Shared Brokenness Leads to Grace and Forgiveness
Recognizing our shared brokenness allows us to extend grace and forgiveness to others. When we understand that others' actions often stem from their own pain, we can release the hold that past hurts have on us. This perspective helps us see others through the eyes of God, acknowledging their actions as manifestations of their own struggles. By doing so, we can forgive and free ourselves from the control of past wounds, allowing God's healing power to work in our lives. [19:15]
"Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." (Colossians 3:13, ESV)
Reflection: Think of someone who has hurt you. How can you begin to see their actions as a result of their own brokenness and extend forgiveness to them today?
Day 3: Surrendering Burdens to God for True Healing
True healing involves surrendering our burdens to God. This act of release is not about justifying wrongs but about freeing ourselves from their control. By handing over our burdens to Jesus, we allow His healing power to cleanse and restore us. This process requires faith and trust in God's ability to transform our lives, leading us to spiritual growth and well-being. [22:34]
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22, ESV)
Reflection: What is one burden you are carrying that you need to surrender to God? What steps can you take today to begin this process of release?
Day 4: Confronting and Letting Go of Negative Influences
The process of healing requires us to confront and let go of the negative emotions and spirits that have taken root in our lives. By offering these to God, we can break free from their destructive influence. This act of letting go is essential for our spiritual journey, as it allows us to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and freedom. [23:38]
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice." (Ephesians 4:31, ESV)
Reflection: Identify a negative emotion or influence in your life. How can you begin to confront and release it to God today?
Day 5: Participating in a Community of Healing
Participating in a service of healing is a powerful step in our spiritual journey. It is an opportunity to receive prayer, anointing, and the support of our faith community as we seek God's transformative power. Engaging with others in this shared experience of healing can strengthen our faith and provide encouragement as we journey towards wholeness. [24:11]
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." (James 5:16, ESV)
Reflection: How can you actively participate in your faith community's healing practices this week? What support do you need from others as you seek God's healing?
Quotes
I love it it says that Jesus came down so he must have been up on a mountain or somewhere high up down and he stood on a level place which means that he was level with everyone remember last week I talked about him being in a boat and he went back so he could see everyone you know sort of from a distance you can see everyone well here he's not he's down with the crowd so if you were on the outside of the crowd it'd be really hard to see him because he was level with them. [00:12:29]
And we know through scripture that many times he touched um people to be healed sometimes he spoke and people were healed from a distance and and what we find out here even those that were filled f with um evil spirits or unclean spirits came to be cleansed um and that even this is what I love the power was so great in Jesus Christ you could just feel it coming off of him and even if you were on the outside of the crowd you could feel that power and people came to be healed. [00:13:12]
They may not be in proximity to Jesus but because they came to be healed because they felt the power because they believed in Jesus they reached out they were seeking and they were all healed amen isn't that beautiful that they all were healed all they had to do was just show up just show up have that desire in their heart and they were healed maybe some this time time of year is very difficult. [00:13:59]
There are things that are difficult that H we had happen in our lives that we maybe Tri childhood trauma or just situ ations we just have to deal with and and we think we deal with them and darn it if they don't show back up and I said Lord we did that and he goes no we did part of that amen always something I realized it's been about 15 years ago we all come from the place of Brokenness don't we we're all broken in some way. [00:18:24]
I learned that if people speak bad about you or or um whether they're speaking truth or not about you um if people are angry or mad if they take things out on you you need to understand they're coming from a place of Brokenness and many times we were just the trigger to bring all that back up what I learned in that is that I can forgive I can offer grace and mercy. [00:18:55]
I can even love that person I don't have to own what they've unloaded on me but to see them Through The Eyes Of God Through The Eyes Of Love and understand they are broken the world today is broken we are a broken people but I need to tell you today that Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior he's our healer he's our healer he's the one that can remove the ick from our lives. [00:19:35]
He's the one that can take where we hurt where um our our soul hurt sometimes we just have a soul hurt our heart hurts so bad he can heal that and that's what happened to this crowd Jesus was there he was willing to engage with the power that he had which is all power in heaven and on Earth which is a lot of power and he was actually probably touching those around him or maybe just speaking healing over their lives. [00:20:12]
We live in a country where we have reasoned out everything but there are many countries where the evidence of a demon or un clean Spirits or that is evident and they are still battling them and they still exercise them and get rid of them and and so but we've sort of reasoned that out in this country we need to know it's very real and you say well I don't have one of those I'm going to tell you how it comes in it comes in through that anger. [00:20:46]
Through that hurt through that feeling of betrayal those things that you find out that you've carried for years and years and years and you hav't been let go of it see that's a spirit coming in it don't want you to forget it it wants to eat you up and Destroy You it wants to set that root in your life so you never move past it today I think some of us carry that stuff people I am always working on me. [00:21:18]
We need to get rid of that stuff and we can we can you see when we take what we have and when we take that and we offer it to the father or to Jesus whoever you're comfortable offering that to you actually give it to him and your mind's you see yourself handing that over no matter how difficult it is and you forgive it's not saying that you that what the person did to you was right what you're doing is releasing that. [00:22:11]
Handing it to the father and saying I no longer want what that person did to me to control my life I'm giving it to you father I'm giving it to you if you want to bless them bless them we let that go and then healing can begin do we forget it probably not but it means it no longer controls us it's releasing and letting that go and in doing that if that Spirit has set up in you of anger or um any of that stuff if you give that to the father or to the son and say here I give it to you it will no longer that that Spirit has to leave and it has no control over your life anymore. [00:22:57]
So you be thinking about God what do I need real of today what do I need to be healed from what do I need to let go of and that's what you will offer up this is the word of God for the people of God thanks be to God today amen. [00:24:30]
