Embracing God's Timing Amidst Opposition and Breakthrough

Summary

In this time together, we are reminded that our lives are governed by God’s timing and seasons, not by our own limitations or the plans of others. Jesus, knowing His hour had come, was fully aware of His purpose and the challenges that would arise. In the same way, when our season of breakthrough or elevation is near, we often sense it in our spirit before it manifests. This spiritual awareness is not just a feeling; it is a sign that God is aligning things for His purpose in our lives. Yet, with every divine season, opposition is inevitable. The enemy’s appearance is not a sign of failure, but rather confirmation that something significant is about to unfold.

We see this truth in the story of Judas’ betrayal. The enemy had to show up for God’s redemptive plan to be fulfilled. Even so, the presence of opposition in our lives is often the very evidence that God is about to do something great. But as long as we remain with Jesus, no curse, pronouncement, or generational pattern can prevail over us. The story of Jabez teaches us that curses can be broken and blessings can be claimed, regardless of our family history or what has been spoken over us.

Knowing who we are and whose we are is crucial. When doors close or people oppose us, it is not always a setback; sometimes, it is God redirecting us to something greater that matches our true identity as His children. God does not just want to give us crumbs—He desires to give us the whole bakery, to elevate us beyond what we or others imagine. Even when the enemy is permitted to touch us, as in the case of Job or David at Ziglag, it is because God intends to use that very opposition to bring about a greater blessing, restoration, and transfer of wealth and purpose.

The battle often begins in the mind, with thoughts planted by the enemy to discourage, distract, or derail us. But we are called to take every thought captive and to recognize that God’s truth and promises are greater than any lie or attack. As we stand firm, encourage ourselves in the Lord, and seek His revelation, we are empowered to recover all, to walk in generational blessings, and to see God’s purpose fulfilled not just in us, but through us to our descendants.

Key Takeaways

- God’s Timing and Spiritual Awareness: God operates outside of time, but He reveals seasons and timings to us. When a new season is approaching, our spirit often senses it before it becomes visible. This spiritual resonance is a sign of God’s alignment and preparation, and we should be attentive to these promptings, trusting that God is orchestrating events for our good. [39:54]

- The Enemy’s Presence as Confirmation: The appearance of opposition or the enemy is not a sign to give up, but rather evidence that a significant breakthrough is near. Just as Judas’ betrayal was necessary for the fulfillment of God’s plan, the challenges we face often precede our greatest victories. Instead of fearing the enemy’s presence, we should recognize it as confirmation that our time has come and that God’s purpose will prevail. [42:14]

- Identity and Divine Elevation: Knowing who we are in Christ changes how we respond to closed doors and opposition. When doors shut, it is often God’s way of redirecting us to something that matches our royal identity and destiny. We are not called to settle for crumbs, but to claim the fullness of God’s provision and favor, trusting that He desires to elevate us beyond what we or others expect. [50:09]

- Victory Over Generational Patterns: No matter what has been spoken over our families or what curses may exist in our bloodline, as long as we are with Jesus, those patterns can be broken. Like Jabez, we can refuse to accept negative cycles and instead claim the blessings that God has stored up for us and our descendants. The blessings of God are generational, and we are called to walk in them and pass them on. [01:13:07]

- The Battle of the Mind and the Power of Revelation: The enemy often attacks first through thoughts—fear, doubt, discouragement—but these are not from God. We must be vigilant to recognize and reject these thoughts, taking them captive and replacing them with God’s truth. As we seek God’s revelation and understanding, we are equipped to pray effectively, overcome opposition, and walk in the fullness of our calling. [57:14]

During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him...

2. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (ESV)
> Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked.

3. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV)
> For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. Devotional

Day 1: Knowing Your Time and Season in God
There are moments in life when you sense a shift, a stirring in your spirit that something significant is about to unfold. This is not mere coincidence or wishful thinking; it is the Holy Spirit alerting you that your time and season have come. God, who lives outside of time, steps into your timeline to orchestrate His purpose for you. Even when opposition arises or the enemy seems to intensify his attacks, it is often a sign that breakthrough is near. Trust that God will reveal your season, and when you feel that anticipation in your spirit, stand firm, knowing that God is about to do something great in your life. [39:54]

John 13:1 (ESV)
"Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end."

Reflection: Can you recall a time when you sensed God preparing you for a new season? What signs or feelings did you notice, and how can you respond in faith the next time you sense a shift?

Day 2: The Enemy’s Presence Signals God’s Purpose
Whenever God is about to elevate you or bring about a significant blessing, the enemy often shows up as a sign that something great is on the horizon. Just as Judas appeared before Jesus’ crucifixion and the devil tempted Jesus after His baptism, the enemy’s interference is not a reason to fear or give up. Instead, it is evidence that God’s plan is advancing in your life. The enemy’s attacks are permitted by God only to fulfill a greater purpose, and what the enemy means for evil, God will turn for your good. Stand strong, knowing that the presence of opposition is a confirmation of your coming breakthrough. [42:14]

Luke 4:1-2 (ESV)
"And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry."

Reflection: When you face unexpected opposition or spiritual attacks, how can you remind yourself that these may be signs of God’s purpose unfolding in your life?

Day 3: Guarding Your Mind Against the Enemy’s Thoughts
The enemy often begins his attack by planting negative, fearful, or discouraging thoughts in your mind, especially when you are on the verge of breakthrough. These thoughts are not from God, and they do not define your reality. Recognize that the battle often starts in your mind, and take authority over every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Speak life over yourself, reject the lies of the enemy, and declare God’s promises over your situation. When distractions or discouragements arise, especially in moments of prayer or worship, know that you have the power to cast them down and walk in victory. [57:14]

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (ESV)
"For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ."

Reflection: What negative or discouraging thoughts have you been battling lately, and how can you actively replace them with God’s truth today?

Day 4: Encouraging Yourself in the Lord During Trials
There will be times when those closest to you misunderstand you, blame you, or even turn against you during seasons of hardship. Like David at Ziglag, when everything seemed lost and his own men spoke of stoning him, you must learn to encourage yourself in the Lord. Seek God’s guidance, inquire of Him, and trust that He will not only restore what was lost but will cause you to recover even more than before. God allows certain trials so that He can transfer blessings and elevate you to new levels. Do not be discouraged by setbacks; instead, strengthen yourself in God’s promises and pursue what He has for you. [01:10:30]

1 Samuel 30:6-8 (ESV)
"And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, 'Bring me the ephod.' So Abiathar brought the ephod to David. And David inquired of the Lord, 'Shall I pursue after this band? Shall I overtake them?' He answered him, 'Pursue, for you shall surely overtake and shall surely rescue.'"

Reflection: In a current or recent trial, how can you intentionally encourage yourself in the Lord and seek His direction rather than giving in to discouragement?

Day 5: Passing On Blessings to Future Generations
God’s promises and blessings are not just for you, but for your children and generations to come. Just as curses can travel through family lines, so can blessings, favor, and purpose. Stand in faith to break every generational curse and declare that your descendants will inherit God’s promises. Pray that the blessings you receive will not end with you but will be multiplied through your family line. Set a foundation of faith, purpose, and blessing that will impact your children and their children, so that they walk in the fullness of God’s destiny for their lives. [01:16:56]

Deuteronomy 7:9 (ESV)
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations."

Reflection: What is one blessing or promise from God that you want to intentionally pray and declare over your children or future generations today?

Quotes

I am here to tell somebody today. That time and season is in the hands of God. Right. As a matter of fact. I understand. That time is not limited to God. That's right. God lives in eternity. And he steps into time. Time is only here for me. And you. But time does not exist in God. [00:39:59] (23 seconds)  #EternalTimeBeyond Edit Clip

Let me help the church. The enemy showing up. Is evidence that your time has come. That's right. Look at your whole life. You can see it. Every time something great is about to happen for you. The enemy must show up. [00:41:39] (20 seconds)  #EnemySignalsBreakthrough Edit Clip

The enemy showing up is not a bad thing. That's just the evidence of the great thing that God is about to do in your life. Judas the betrayer, he had to show up. If he didn't show up you and I would not have salvation. [00:43:09] (19 seconds)  #BetrayalBringsSalvation Edit Clip

People of God I don't care what was spoken about you what was spoken about your family what was spoken about your bloodline what was spoken about from whoever it was spoken as long as you are with Jesus it can be changed it can be reversed it can be better. You can close the door before me, you can shut the door before me, but I serve a master that has the master key, and the master key can open up any door, as a matter of fact, you shut the door before me, I don't want the door anymore, I am cleaning the building. [00:49:22] (23 seconds)  #MasterKeyOpensAll Edit Clip

When a door is shut before you, God allow it to shut before you, God allow it to shut before you, because it does not match up with who he see you are, not who you see you are, or who people say you are, who he see you are, why, because you are royalty, why, because you are royal priesthood, why, because you are the favored one. The thought of fear, that's not God. The thought that you cannot make it, that's not God. The thought that you will not be able to recover, Let's go. That's not God. The thought that you will not be able to stand on your two feet, that's not God. And even the enemy will send people to discourage you. That is still not God. So, that means you can be in the presence of God, and the devil will still show up. Have you ever been there in the presence, and you pray, and all of a sudden, thoughts are coming in your head, so you can pray? Here's the famous one. Have you ever been in the presence of God, and you're reading this word, and all of a sudden, thoughts come in your mind? [01:00:15] (26 seconds)  #PresenceAndBattle Edit Clip

I'm going to tell somebody today. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Sometimes the very children. As a mother or a father. As a parent you're praying for. Is the very children that will start to attack you. They will start to say things. They will say mommy it's because of you this is happening. Because of you. They'll start to blame you for stuff. My God because you're praying for them. [01:09:51] (22 seconds)  #ChildrenMayAttack Edit Clip

If the enemy is prevailing in your life, Father, why is the enemy prevailing in my life? Father, why have you permitted him to touch me? Father, what is the plan? Because even Job, God said, look, have you acknowledged my servant Job? And only because God gave the devil permission, he was able to touch Job. So if the enemy is touching you, Father, there must be a reason why you gave him permission to touch me. Father, let me know why. [01:18:12] (38 seconds)  #PermissionForPurpose Edit Clip
