Embracing God's Purpose Through Trials and Redemption
Summary
In my recent sermon, I shared a deeply personal and transformative experience that has significantly impacted my life and ministry. I began by expressing gratitude for the prayers and support of the church community during a time of intense personal trial. This period of adversity was not just a physical battle but also a spiritual one, as I faced attacks on my family and myself, which I believe were orchestrated by the enemy in response to a sermon series exposing his tactics.
I recounted a vivid and disturbing dream where I was threatened by a figure I interpreted as Satan, warning me against speaking about the forces of darkness. This dream occurred just before I was to preach on the topic of light overcoming darkness. Despite the fear and apprehension that followed, I was able to deliver the message with the support of prayerful church members.
The focus of my sermon then shifted to an event that occurred shortly after my 50th birthday. Following a routine colonoscopy, I experienced a life-threatening medical emergency due to significant internal bleeding. I lost over 50% of my blood, a situation that, by medical standards, should have been fatal. Yet, in the midst of this crisis, I felt God's miraculous intervention. As I was rushed to surgery, I felt the life draining from me, and my thoughts turned to my family, my faith, and the assurance of my children's salvation.
During surgery, the doctors were unable to locate the source of the bleeding, which had inexplicably stopped. This miraculous turn of events left medical professionals baffled but affirmed my belief in God's protective hand over my life. I emerged from this experience with a renewed understanding of God's purpose for me and a commitment to slow down and listen more intently to His guidance.
Drawing from Isaiah 43, I emphasized God's intentional love for us, as He has created, redeemed, and called us to a life of purpose. This life requires submission to His will and a daily surrender to His lordship. I also highlighted the importance of understanding and receiving God's love, which is demonstrated through His actions rather than just words.
As I concluded the sermon, I urged the congregation to consider the brevity of life and the importance of being prepared for eternity. I shared my hope that my life and words would leave a legacy that points others to the hope and instruction found in Jesus Christ, preparing them for their eternal destiny.

- In the face of trials and tribulations, we are reminded that God is with us, and we are called to walk through these challenges rather than avoid them. This journey through adversity strengthens our faith and reliance on God as our protector and guide. [01:22:16]
- Redemption is a two-part process that involves God's sacrificial love and our response to it. Understanding and accepting this love is crucial to experiencing the transformative power of redemption in our lives. [01:17:54]

#### Bible Reading
- Isaiah 43:1-4 (NIV)
> But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.”
