Sermon Clips

1. "Why do simple words, mere sound vibrations, impact us so deeply? I mean, when you think about it, remember when we were kids, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Of course, that was bogus then and bogus now. But technically speaking, it's just breath. It's just sound vibrations, but they change our internal climate and they can change our entire character. They can change the trajectory of our lives." [01:18] (60 seconds) ( | | )

2. "We are living in a day and time in human history where the spiritual composition of us as human beings is being minimized and the physical is being maximized. We are being led to believe in lots of different ways that as long as everything is fine circumstantially on the outside, that it doesn't matter a great deal about the inside. The inside will come along on its own if you can just get the external things in place. And that is just a lie." [02:24] (25 seconds) ( | | )

3. "We are destined to become Christ-like humans dwelling eternally in a divine family. Now, that may seem ethereal and far off, but just picture how different this earth would be right now today if every single human being on this earth actually was like Christ. And everywhere you go, and everywhere you went was a safe place, and everybody you met was a good person, and your life and your children's lives would be just unbelievably good." [03:00] (25 seconds) ( | | )

4. "Every human being is love-driven. We cherish love. We count it as the supreme value. A person will do almost anything for love. Most things we do, knowingly and unknowingly, are for love. We are relational beings. We desperately need love. We are black holes of emotional need, and we hunger for love. We want it all the time from everyone, and we want it perfectly. We're hungry all the time for love." [06:10] (28 seconds) ( | | )

5. "A person can have it all. You can have fame, fortune, you can have possessions, power, pleasure, popularity, prestige, you can have it all, but if you don't feel loved and if you don't feel love for others, how many of you know that's a miserable, human being, right? It just doesn't work. You can have everything, but if you don't feel love and if you don't feel love for others, you are a miserable human being turning around. You can have next to nothing. Some of the happiest people in the world are those that have the least, but if they feel loved and if they feel love, they're the happiest." [12:37] (46 seconds) ( | | )

6. "When we are craving love, we meet a lot of people, we meet a lot of people who say things to us like, you know, hey man, you know, if you want to do that God stuff, I get it, that's okay. I don't need that personally. I'm just not wired that way. I mean, that God stuff is okay for you, and I'm not knocking you, but I'm not that way. But ask that same person, do you care about love? Do you care about feeling loved? Are you love driven? And that person will say, of course. I mean, I'm human after all." [14:52] (30 seconds) ( | | )

7. "When, when, when we recognize the perfect love that I want can only be had from God, and I actually learn how to receive it from God so that I feel full. Then, I'm full. And whatever imperfect human love is offered to me, it's sweet, man. It's, it's, it's dessert. I don't need it, but if it's offered, I appreciate it. I cherish it. I love it. But I'm not going to demand, I'm not going to demand from another human what another human being can never give me." [24:50] (40 seconds) ( | | )

8. "If you're thirsty. If your soul's thirsty, and we're talking about thirst for love, in particular, which is thirst for God, he's saying, you gotta, you gotta just not come to me. You gotta keep on coming to me. You gotta, he was, he was saying this to men who had spent every day of their lives with Jesus for about three and a half years. They walked with him. They ate with him. At night, they all slept together somewhere, so these were individuals that understood. They understood what Jesus was saying. Their life was in constant contact, for want of a better term, with Jesus." [29:43] (38 seconds) ( | | )

9. "You were made by Christ. You were made for Christ. God is love. He's the initiator of love. He's the only one with the capacity to always be available. To always be interested. To always be interesting. How many of you know we can bore one another to tears, too? We, we're just, you know, we're imperfect, man. We're all in need ourselves. It's only God that can give us what our insatiable desire for perfect love really is about." [25:20] (28 seconds) ( | | )

10. "He doesn't love us because of anything in us. He loves us because of everything that's in Him. Think of the baby again. That baby doesn't win your love because He can sing or dance or give you money or give you. You just, you can't explain it. You just love the baby because it's yours. It says we were made by Christ and for Christ. He made you for Himself. He loves you. He'll never stop loving you." [36:39] (26 seconds) ( | | )
