Embracing Freedom: Living in God's Light and Love

Devotional

Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

1) "Every single one of us have this inkling that you are made for more than just working nine or ten hours at work and coming home and trying to figure out what you're going to cook for dinner and then eating and then scrolling through your phone or watching something on TV and then finally going back to sleep and then waking up and doing it all over again. We all have this hunch that we are made for more than that. And the reason why you have that hunch is because it's true that you were made for more." 2) "You are a chosen people. You are a royal priesthood. Spoiler alert, we're going to talk about that next week. And we're going to talk about what does that mean for us. You are a royal priesthood. You are a holy nation. Holy means set apart. You're not like everybody else. You don't live the way that everybody else lives. Like God has a way for you to live that results in flourishing and fruitfulness and fulfillment. That you are, you're all together separate. You are a people belonging to God." 3) "Think about that. That God has called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. That God calls us out of the kingdom of darkness, out of this place of immense darkness, and He calls us into a place not just of light, but some translations say marvelous light or wonderful light." 4) "Whether you feel it or not, whether you feel free or not, the reality is you were made for the good, for more. You were made for what? You were made for freedom. You already have been called out of darkness into his wonderful light. You don't belong in darkness anymore." [43:24] (17 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5) "Whatever you feed will grow, and whatever you starve will die. Do you hear that? Whatever you feed will grow. This is law of nature, right? Whatever you feed will grow, and whatever you starve will die. Would you say that with me? Whatever you feed will grow, whatever you starve will die. This is an important principle because you were made for more." [46:45] (25 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6) "Freedom is there's none of that. Okay? Can you imagine that? That's what that whatever you feed will grow and whatever you starve will die. If you got your notes when you came in this morning, you got this grid. And know this is not a tic-tac-toe board because it would be wrong. There's one too many lines there." 7) "What is a healthy habit that you need to feed? Oh, I love you guys. You guys are like let's go for it. Yeah, I love it. Yeah. Prayer. Groups. I think someone said groups. Let me just read to you what Paul says because Paul makes it real. He says in 1 Corinthians 9:27, he says I discipline my body like an athlete. I love that imagery. Paul is not being passive." 8) "You have a heavenly father who loves you. He doesn't want you stuck living in darkness. He called you out of darkness. He's called you into His wonderful light. He wants a relationship with you. He wants you to know him, not just to know about him. He doesn't want to be distant from you. He wants to be close to you. And you don't have to live imprisoned anymore."
