Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

"Continue to love, don't go into it with expectations. That's where we get in trouble. We think that we deserve a certain type of treatment or this or that, and the truth is that's not how Jesus lived. He just kept loving. He never got what he deserved here on the earth. He just kept loving, loving, giving, giving, giving." [00:02:55]

"There are only a few times in life when you run into things that are really critical, okay, that are just necessary. When you see something that is so important, you just go, 'I've got to do something about this now.' You see, there are a lot of things in life that are loud and will scream out for your attention, but those are not surely the things that are critical." [00:03:56]

"Whenever in life you run into something that you know is important, is critical, just do it. Because we all procrastinate. I mean, 'Hey, let's get together sometime.' I'm like, 'Okay, it's not going to happen.' Okay, you know, we just both say and we may have the greatest intentions of, you know, we really want to hook up, but it's not going to happen because we're both going to get busy." [00:04:56]

"Jesus is talking to these people and it's like, 'I don't know if any of you grew up on a farm, but usually when I talk to people who say, "Yeah, I grew up on a farm," you know, remember pops would go out and he'd go, "It's gonna rain," you know, and it's like, how do you know that?' He goes, 'Around 3:30,' you know, it's like, wow, he's got it down." [00:08:20]

"How in the world did you miss what has just happened? How in the world can you miss the fact that the Son of God, the Messiah, is standing in front of you? Because you can figure out signs and figure out these other things, but if you would really study the Old Testament, if you really study the prophecies of the Old Testament, you would see that this Messiah was going to come and you'd be ready for him." [00:09:26]

"People will have so little knowledge of what the return of Christ was supposed to be like. I mean, do you know the signs that Jesus talks about that would accompany his return, what it was going to be like? You ever studied that? Never stayed the book of Revelation? I mean, both the Revelation gives us hints as to what the world is going to look like when Christ returns." [00:11:00]

"Think about all the stupid things in life we know about. You ever stop and just think about that? Why do I care? Why do I care so much about this or that? I mean, for some of you, I could turn on the radio right now, turn on to whatever your favorite station is, and you can start quoting the words to every single song on that station." [00:18:11]

"If we want to live the lives that God wants us to, we're going to have to start shedding some of the things that are less significant. And we hate that. We hate downsizing. We hate that thought. We want it all. We don't, I don't even like going to a restaurant and look at a menu. It bugs me because I look at the menu and there's so many things I want to eat." [00:19:16]

"Jesus is saying, you know, so much. I remember as a kid, I knew every stat of everyone knows on the Cincinnati Reds. I knew their batting averages, how many home runs they hit that year. I knew, I remember the Lakers back then, you know, Norm Nixon, Jamaal Wilkes, and Jabbar, and all of their scoring average. I knew all that stuff." [00:21:33]

"Jesus is saying you and I, everyone on this earth, is walking to the courthouse. Do you understand that right now you're on a journey? You're about to walk before the judge. All of us are. That's what your life is. We are all on our way to the courtroom, and one day you're going to stand before this judge, and you're guilty. We're all guilty." [00:24:32]

"People have far too small of view of God. We speak about him with such arrogance, like it's no big deal. You know, I can wing a lot of things. I'm a pretty intelligent person. I'll talk my way into heaven. I'll work my way into there. We'll cut a deal. We'll do something. God will be okay with me. Do you understand? Totally underestimate Judgment Day." [00:26:50]

"Once you know something is right to do, don't wait anymore, okay? Don't put it off because these are the things that are critical, the eternal things. Listen, you and I are going to stand before God, and what I just talked about today, that's all that's going to matter at that moment. It's just whatever I need to do before him to be reconciled."
