Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power to go about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, demonstrating that sickness and infirmity are forms of oppression that rob people of their freedom. In a world where sickness is a constant reality and even a topic of daily conversation, it is vital to remember that God sent Jesus not only to forgive sins but also to bring healing and restoration. The presence of Jesus brings liberty, and His work is to undo the works of the enemy, restoring what has been lost and setting people free from bondage. As you reflect on your own life, consider the areas where you have accepted sickness or limitation as inevitable, and remember that Jesus came to bring wholeness and freedom. [30:06]
Acts 10:38 (ESV)
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."
Reflection: In what area of your life have you accepted limitation or sickness as “normal,” and how can you invite Jesus to bring His healing and freedom into that area today?
God’s promise of recompense means He will make amends for what has been lost or harmed, restoring to humanity what the devil has stolen. Healing is not just a physical act but a sign of God’s justice and restoration, a fulfillment of His promise to bring back what was taken from us. When God comes with vengeance, it is not against us but for us, to compensate and restore us to wholeness. The opening of blind eyes, the unstopping of deaf ears, and the leaping of the lame are all signs of this divine recompense. Let your heart be encouraged that God’s will is to restore you, to make amends for every loss, and to bring healing as a sign of His justice and love. [36:50]
Isaiah 35:3-6 (ESV)
"Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who have an anxious heart, 'Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.' Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert."
Reflection: What is one loss or area of harm in your life where you need to trust God for His recompense and restoration today?
The coming of Jesus marked the arrival of God’s kingdom and the beginning of a new era where the authority of the enemy is broken and healing is available now. Jesus declared that the judgment of this world and the casting out of the ruler of this world is not a future event but a present reality. The kingdom of God is here, bringing healing, restoration, and justice to all who will receive it. This is not just a hope for the future but a truth to be lived and experienced today. As you pray, remember that God’s will is for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven—where there is no sickness or oppression. [48:10]
John 12:31 (ESV)
"Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out."
Reflection: How can you live today with the expectation that God’s kingdom is present and His healing and justice are available to you right now?
It is easy to become offended when God’s healing or goodness does not appear as quickly as we hope, but offense can block us from receiving what God wants to give. Even in Jesus’ hometown, offense prevented many from experiencing His mighty works. The enemy works to stir up offense—at Jesus, at the church, or at the message of healing—so that we miss out on the blessings God intends for us. Instead, we are called to guard our hearts, remain open, and trust in the goodness of Jesus, even when we do not yet see the full manifestation of His promises. [39:42]
Luke 7:21-23 (ESV)
"In that hour he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and on many who were blind he bestowed sight. And he answered them, 'Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.'"
Reflection: Is there any area where disappointment or offense has crept into your heart toward God? How can you release that to Him and open yourself to His goodness again?
The ultimate purpose of Jesus’ coming was to destroy the works of the devil—sin, sickness, and oppression—and to restore God’s will on earth. Sin did not begin with humanity but with the devil, and Jesus was manifested to break the power of the enemy and bring freedom to all who believe. This is a revelation to be received and lived out, especially in a world dominated by thoughts of sickness and pain. As you meditate on this truth, invite the Holy Spirit to reveal any area where the enemy’s works are still present in your life, and ask Jesus to bring His victory and restoration. [51:19]
1 John 3:8 (ESV)
"Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."
Reflection: What is one specific area where you need to see the works of the enemy destroyed in your life, and how can you invite Jesus to bring His victory there today?
Tonight, we gathered to focus on the reality of divine healing and the restoration God desires for His people. God is inviting us into a new way of thinking—one that sees healing not as a rare exception, but as a central part of His will being restored on earth. Divine healing is God’s act of restoring what was lost, executing vengeance against the works of the devil, and bringing justice and recompense to humanity. In a world where sickness is ever-present and even commercialized, it’s easy to accept pain and infirmity as normal. But Jesus came to break that cycle, to set us free from the oppression of sickness, and to restore our freedom and wholeness.
Acts 10:38 reminds us that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, going about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. Sickness is not just a physical issue; it is a form of oppression that robs us of our liberty. The enemy wants us to live in fear—fear of sickness, fear of aging, fear of the future. But God’s promise is that we can live long and strong, empowered by His presence, just as Caleb did when he claimed his inheritance at eighty-five.
Isaiah 35 and Luke 7 show us that healing is God’s recompense—His way of making amends for what the enemy has stolen. When Jesus healed the blind, the deaf, the lame, and the brokenhearted, He was fulfilling God’s promise to restore and compensate humanity. This is not vengeance against us, but vengeance for us—justice against the enemy who illegally took what God intended for His people.
It’s crucial not to let offense or disappointment keep us from receiving God’s goodness. The enemy works hard to make us offended at Jesus, at the church, or at the idea of healing itself. But God’s vengeance is not about punishing us; it’s about restoring us. Jesus’ coming marked the “now” of God’s kingdom—His authority and healing power are present today. The kingdom of God is here, bringing healing, restoration, and justice. Our healing is part of God’s work to restore His will on earth as it is in heaven.
