"However, have you ever thought about the fact that the wise men had to change their mind? They had a plan. Find the Messiah, give him the gifts, turn around and go home. The quickest and easiest way to do that is just to reverse the route they took to get to him." [00:05:14] (28 seconds)

"Changing your position on an important issue, a change in your theology. Honestly, sometimes the change you may be dealing with is life-altering, like the wise men. It will change the path of your life. path your life is on in those times it would be good to keep these three things in mind divine decide." [00:06:17] (31 seconds)

"You see, the wise men had a divine dream calling them to change their minds about how to get home. This was not for their safety or prosperity, but for the furtherance of God's divine plan. They then had to decide if they would follow this divine intervention or not. Or ignore it." [00:07:19] (31 seconds)

"Two men, both called to change their minds about things, to alter the path of their journey. On this side of history, we see them a little differently than who they really were. Consider this. The rich young ruler was a wonderfully religious guy. Just ask him. By all accounts, he followed the rules and honored God with his life." [00:10:29] (33 seconds)

"Jesus tells the young rich ruler, Matthew 6 .24, No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Jesus knows that money has a hold on this man's heart." [00:12:53] (25 seconds)

"Jesus called Zacchaeus to change his mind about who he is and who Jesus truly is. Come down is as much about where Zacchaeus is physically in the tree as it is about where he thinks he is in life. Zacchaeus feels like he's better than everybody else, like he's above everyone else." [00:14:33] (29 seconds)

"Jesus gives the rich young ruler a divine calling, but the Bible says it made him sad. Change is difficult. Our desire to change must surpass our desire to stay the same. Because change is incredibly challenging. Jesus is calling this young man to give up his identity. Even to this day, we identify him as the rich young ruler." [00:15:44] (34 seconds)

"In contrast, Jesus gives Zacchaeus a divine calling. And the Bible says in Luke 19 .6, so he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. Sometimes change is so exciting that we don't even think about the repercussions. In fact, as Zacchaeus was climbing down the tree, he probably had no idea that what seemed like a simple decision would become life-altering." [00:18:09] (32 seconds)

"Zacchaeus was giving half of his wealth to the poor and repaying anyone he had defrauded fourfold. Such dedication to a decision is costly. Zacchaeus sets us an example. An example of how transformative and sacrificial changes can be. We don't know the rest of the story for the rich young ruler. We just know he went away sad." [00:24:23] (39 seconds)

"We all need, like I said this morning, we need to listen for that divine calling. for that divine instruction to change. And then we need to decide to change. Decide to obey that which God has asked you to obey. And then whenever it gets tough, when the winds and the rains come, and the storms come, to be dedicated to the decision you made based on the divine calling you were given." [00:25:16] (50 seconds)

"To hear God's divine calling. Maybe to bring change to the way we're thinking, to our attitudes, to our behaviours, to our theology, to the direction our life is taking. But once we've heard that, we have to make a decision to obey it and to live out. And to follow it." [00:29:29] (25 seconds)

"Because the divine calling was given. He made a decision to follow it. And then he was dedicated enough to put right all the issues. in his life he was dedicated to that decision and salvation came to his home the rich young ruler had the divine calling but made the decision not to do what God had asked him to do and we can only speculate that salvation never met the young rich ruler that he went away sad and sorrowful for the rest of his natural life." [00:30:32] (47 seconds)
