Day 1: Embracing the Present Relationship with Christ
In our spiritual journey, the focus should be on our current relationship with Jesus rather than past experiences. The assurance of our faith is not rooted in a one-time event but in the ongoing, living relationship we have with Christ today. This involves recognizing Jesus as our supreme treasure and living in a way that reflects His lordship in our lives. By doing so, we find assurance in His faithfulness and not in our fluctuating feelings or past actions. [01:14]
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." (Colossians 2:6-7, ESV)
Reflection: What steps can you take today to deepen your relationship with Jesus and acknowledge Him as your supreme treasure?
Day 2: Understanding the Nature of Saving Faith
Saving faith is characterized by receiving Jesus as the ultimate authority, benefactor, and value in our lives. It is not merely an intellectual agreement but a heartfelt treasuring of Christ above all else. This faith is illustrated in the teachings and parables of Jesus, where the joy and sacrifice of following Him are emphasized. True saving faith involves a transformation that prioritizes Christ as the central focus of our lives, leading us to live in a way that reflects His teachings and love. [04:12]
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21, ESV)
Reflection: In what ways can you demonstrate that Jesus is the supreme treasure in your life today?
Day 3: Experiencing Miraculous Transformation
Conversion is a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit that removes spiritual blindness and allows us to see the glory of Christ. This transformation is not dependent on specific language or teachings but on a genuine change in our hearts. When the Holy Spirit awakens us, we begin to see Christ's beauty and worth, leading to a life that reflects His glory. This transformation is ongoing, as we continually seek to align our lives with His will and purpose. [07:21]
"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18, ESV)
Reflection: How have you experienced the Holy Spirit's transformative work in your life, and how can you continue to seek His guidance today?
Day 4: Prioritizing Christ Above All Else
A truly born-again person will prioritize Christ above all else, even if they haven't been taught to use specific terms like "treasuring Christ." The heart of a believer naturally chooses Christ over all other things, reflecting a genuine transformation. This prioritization is evident in the choices we make, the values we hold, and the way we live our lives. It is a daily commitment to place Christ at the center of everything we do, trusting in His guidance and provision. [09:32]
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33, ESV)
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you need to prioritize Christ more fully, and what steps can you take to do so today?
Day 5: Engaging in the Continuous Fight of Faith
The fight of faith is a continuous battle to maintain joy in Christ, recognizing that our faith can fluctuate. Our assurance lies in Christ's faithfulness, not our own, as He sustains us to the end. This ongoing warfare involves striving to keep Christ as our supreme treasure, even amidst challenges and doubts. By relying on His strength and faithfulness, we can persevere in our faith journey, trusting that He will hold us secure until the end. [10:13]
"Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." (1 Timothy 6:12, ESV)
Reflection: What specific challenges are you facing in your faith journey, and how can you rely on Christ's faithfulness to overcome them today?
Sermon Summary

A listener, Nick, wonders if his conversion was genuine since he didn't initially feel a strong desire for God. The crucial point is not to dwell on the past but to focus on the present relationship with Jesus. The essence of saving faith is embracing Jesus as the supreme treasure of our lives, which involves receiving Him as Lord, Savior, and the ultimate value. This is supported by biblical teachings, such as Jesus' parables and Paul's writings, which emphasize the joy and sacrifice involved in truly following Christ.

Sermon Clips
The all-important question for all of us is the question of right now: do we embrace Jesus now as the Lord and Savior and supreme treasure of our lives? When and how we came to have this glorious, miraculous preference for Jesus above all things, the submission to Jesus as Lord is relatively unimportant. [00:01:17]
I do believe that saving faith includes receiving Jesus as the chief authority in one's life, Lord, the chief benefactor of one's life, Savior, and the chief value of one's life, Treasurer. Yes, I believe that's what saving faith does when it welcomes, embraces, receives, trusts Jesus. [00:03:47]
Conversion is a joyful abandonment of all for him. Jesus underlines it with two amazing statements: Matthew 10:37, "Whoever loves mother or father more than me is not worthy of me; whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." [00:05:16]
What happens in conversion is that the spiritual deadness and blindness of our hearts is taken away by God's Spirit, and we are granted miraculously to see with the eyes of the heart. See what? See the truth, the beauty, the reality, the excellence of Jesus through the portrayal of the gospel. [00:07:10]
The glory and beauty and excellence and worth of Christ himself in his saving work is the greatest good of the gospel. He saves us to know him, enjoy him, treasure him as he really is, and then to reflect him and glorify him in our feelings and thoughts and actions. [00:08:19]
A person can really be saved, that is, really come into this kind of relationship with Christ, even if he or she has never been taught all these texts. The Holy Spirit can create a new heart that treasures Christ in a person who has never thought of the word "treasure" as a label for Christ. [00:08:46]
The heart of a truly born-again person, when presented with the alternatives of Christ versus parents, children versus Christ, Christ versus health, Christ versus life, if those choices are ever presented, the born-again person will prefer Christ. [00:09:24]
The fight of faith that Paul describes in First Timothy 6:12 is therefore a fight for joy in Christ, a fight for treasuring Christ above all things. This means that the state of a born-again heart is not without its warfare. Faith can be stronger or weaker, the Bible says. [00:10:11]
Our calling in those times of dullness is to look to Christ, look at his amazing sacrifice and his paths of triumph. The Lord who judges the hearts of men knows our true condition. He knows the treasure of our hearts. [00:10:49]
He's never unsure. Our assurance may rise and fall. He's never unsure. His faithfulness is our hope. Only Christ's faithfulness in sustaining us and holding on to us will help us make it to the end and not throw away our treasure. [00:11:10]
A truly born-again person will prioritize Christ above all else, even if they haven't been taught to use specific terms. The heart of a believer will choose Christ over all other things. [00:09:32]
