Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

Godly wisdom is focused on an eternal value and perspective, that we're looking at decisions and choices from an eternal perspective. We're not living for the here and now. And worldly and earthly wisdom is, yes, we need to live for the here and now. And we need to get as much from this life, this day, this moment, that we can. It's not focused on the eternal. Search your hearts and turn from jealousy and selfish ambition. You and I need to slow down, and we need to really think about our motives. We need to really think about why are we doing what we're doing? What is driving this decision to act this way? Because again, selfish ambition, making decisions based on what we want, we desire, the pursuit of our happiness is going to sabotage wisdom. With all our hearts, we desire this first named characteristic of wisdom, the foundational element of wisdom from above. We pray that you will further fill us with heaven's wisdom, making us peaceable. Give us your shalom and help us to promote peace with our brothers and sisters. God, we entreat you to make us gentle so we will make allowances for the weaknesses of others and will be reasonable and kind in our dealings with difficult people. Grant us the wisdom to be impartial, unwavering in respect to biblical principle, so our lives will exclude fairness. Finally, make us sincere, clear-eyed, honest, forthright, without mass, so others will perceive the wisdom of God. God, we pray that you will make us pure in Christ in us. Lord, give us wisdom from heaven. We pray this in Jesus' name and all of God's people said, amen. [01:24:23] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
