The Scriptures we so casually hold each and every day, they have been preserved for thousands of years. By people who gave their life for these words. Because they believed in their core that these words were truth. Now, they tell the story of God's crazy love for His people. Now, even though Scripture has been used to, I would say, defend some things that are indefensible, the Scripture is still true. And even though Scriptures have been used to promote unhealthy power structures that oppress, even though they've been used for that, the Scriptures are still true. How much do we desire truth anymore? I mean, truth should have nothing to fear from investigation. Amen? This is what I love about our movement. They did it together and this is what hit me this week. The pursuit of truth for the believer is unifying. It should be. [01:10:29] (25 seconds)  #EarlyChurchLoveUnity

So the people in our movement decided we're not going to focus on creeds. Let's focus on Scripture. Because creeds will end up moving us to these non -negotiable beliefs. And sometimes they may be wrong. Sometimes they may be right. But we don't want to be dogmatic. We want to be people of Scripture. Scripture, in fact, they want that to be their only guide. This Heritage says, we are not the only Christians, but we're choosing to be Christians only. I love that. It's above titles that separate and divide, right? They want to be Christians above any denominational title. They want to be Christians above national identity. They want to be Christians first, Christians only. [01:13:25] (28 seconds)  #BelieversBeyondLabels

There was a lot of grace given to each other in that early church. A lot of grace received, a lot of grace given, and I think a lot of grace given and received should be, we should be doing that today as well. See, Scripture is and always will be our guide, and we run to it in conversations like we are having because it's a story about people who aren't too different from us. [01:17:17] (27 seconds)  #TruthLeadsToUnity

``Generation after generation will continue to wrestle because they are all seeking truth, and we should still be seeking truth, and when we seek to choose, when we seek to find that truth together, unity will develop because when you find truth, I think you can find unity, and when we find it and when we choose to hold on to it, to that truth, then Jesus tells us in John 8, that truth will set us free. [01:17:49] (30 seconds)  #GospelPowerUnites

Now, the Scriptures contain the good news of God, the gospel. As Paul says in Romans, it is the gospel, it's the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes, and we just did a whole series on the Holy Spirit and I believe that when the Spirit is allowed to move in a church family, then the church family will move together. Spirit is unifying. [01:18:49] (30 seconds)  #ScriptureRevealsFreedom
