#CalledByGrace
“Dear friends, perhaps today you wonder whether you are truly belonging to God, Christ Jesus, the father, the holy spirit. Perhaps your conscience accuses you. Perhaps your sins seem to be too many. Perhaps your faith feels weak. Then hear Paul's words correctly. God's purpose of election does not tell you to search yourself. It tells you to trust the one who calls. The God who chose to save sinners sent his son to die for Jesus bore your sins. Jesus died your death. Jesus rose for your justification. Jesus called you by his gospel. Jesus washed you in baptism. Jesus feeds you with his own body and blood. Your confidence is not found in the strength of your faith. It is found in the faithfulness of your savior.”

#HopefulByElection
“Election never makes Christians passive. It makes us hopeful because God saves sinners. #CalledInChrist
“Election is never separated from Christ. Christ is the mirror of election. If you want to know God's eternal heart towards sinners, do not peer into heaven. at the cross. Notice something beautiful in our text. Paul says, God's purpose of election continues because of him who calls. Who is the one that calls? It is God himself. He calls through his gospel. He calls through baptism. He calls through absolution, which we celebrated a couple minutes ago. He calls through his supper. You are not a Christian because you've climbed your way to God. You are a Christian because God, Christ Jesus has come to you. While you were dead in your trespasses, he called you.”

#GraceNotWorks
“Your salvation is never based on your works. Amen? Amen. Never. Not your goodness, not your effort, not your family, not your heritage, not your accomplishments. If God had waited for Jacob to prove himself worthy, Jacob never would have been chosen. If God waits for us to prove ourselves worthy, none of us, not 0% of us would be saved. Election removes every possibility of boasting. God's grace is truly grace.”
