26s
“``Now, usually, when you preach a sermon, you preach a sermon at the end, you kinda give some application, not so today. I'm gonna give it to you upfront. You know what the application is for today? Pray. Pray for your elders. Pray for your pastors. Pray for us. We will give an account in a way that you will not before God almighty.”
41s
“``By the way, it doesn't say gifted. You can look through both of these lists and the word gifted is not there. Many a gifted man has taken a church in a wrong direction. It's an issue of character. Anybody can learn to teach. Anybody can learn to manage. You go to college to learn to manage. Giftedness is not a requirement. Character Then we have their prohibited character traits.”
43s
“``It's hard not to practice prejudice or favoritism. Someone you love dearly and yet it's a charge. Then he goes on, do not lay hands on anyone hastily and so identify with the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. You lay hands on somebody too soon and it turns out they're not living the life that they're supposed to live as an elder or a pastor, then you are guilty of their sin. Keep yourself pure. Keep the church pure.”
39s
“``James says this, let not many of you become teachers, my brother, knowing as such you will incur a stricter judgment. God's desire is that his church would be protected, that it would be fed, that it would be led, that it would be protected by those who are living such a life that others might actually follow, and in so doing, bring God joy.”
