Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

"When you pair Gabor and El, you emphasize that God is the ultimate champion of his people. And this image should be a source of hope and reassurance, especially, think about the original context, especially if you are an oppressed people, or if you are an abused people, or if you are in exile, or if you feel like God has forgotten all about you and the covenant isn't standing, and then suddenly a son is born whose name is El Gabor, it comes back to something more powerful than just a liberator." "This is what makes Jesus unique. This is like the, this is the central piece of everything we believe. Everything kind of hinges on this, that Jesus is different. He is fully man and he's fully God. So while he might be Gabor, there were lots of Gabors, he is El Gabor, there is only one." [00:53:57] (19 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Jesus is El Gabor and has the power available to you to help you overcome every obstacle, including sin and death and the struggles of life. That means I am free to trust Jesus to fight the battles I can't win on my own." [01:02:19] (17 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"You can lay your burdens at the feet of El Gabor, the mighty God who is always victorious. Because when you are weak, trust in the strengths of the mighty God." [01:02:40] (11 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Jesus isn't just the protector of your life. He fights for your soul, securing eternal victory over sin and Satan. The battle for your soul is won, meaning you are free to live fearlessly, knowing he has already won the ultimate battle for you." [01:02:57] (16 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Unlike other human heroes, Jesus' strength brings eternal salvation, not temporary fixes. That means we are free to stop striving to save ourselves or fix our life through our own strengths." [01:03:16] (16 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"We are free and encouraged to surrender to the Savior whose power is perfect in our weakness. Because his strength saves what your strength. And Jesus, our El Gabor, isn't just mighty in battle. He's mighty enough to carry you through life's storms and uncertainties." [01:03:40] (21 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"When life feels too heavy, lean on the El Gabor, your mighty God. He will never leave you nor forsake you, and he has won the ultimate battle for you. Where you can't, he can and he will." [01:04:37] (15 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"He doesn't promise to remove the struggle, but he does promise to be with you in the struggle, and that changes everything. It would be a completely different religion, and unfortunately it isn't it, that the minute you make some kind of mental ascent, God either removes all your troubles or removes you from the troubles. But instead, what we have is we have an El Gabor who is also Emmanuel, God with us, and he comes into the trouble and stays with us. And that gets you through. That is the hope we hang on to." "And so if I can encourage you with anything, as the season gets busier, as the problems keep coming and everything, the family gets together and whatever that means for you, know that you are not alone. Even if you happen to feel lonely, you do not go into those issues alone, but you have El Gabor on your side. You have the God of the universe who created you for a relationship with him, who has come to be with you in the struggle, in this Christmas season."
