37s
“``Living the wise life does not mean trying to be overly wise, trying to be too clever for others, and it certainly does not mean walking according to folly. What it does mean is looking to that one righteous man who did good and never sinned, whose life, death, and resurrection Jesus imparts to those who fear him. And that man who fears him will be delivered out of them both. Right? He cannot be caught in this evil snare forever because god knows what will come after him.”
48s
“God, we do so often carry fire close to our chest and expect not to be burned. We live in a way for ourselves and not for your glory, and we thank you that you have given us a savior, a redeemer who makes every area of life new so we don't have to chase death, but instead look to the shepherd and overseer of our souls who has redeemed us so that we might renounce ungodliness. We might be zealous for the good works that glorify your name. May it be that we live for your son in whose name we pray. Amen.”
51s
“All of life submitted to all of God's wisdom. This is the narrow way to live that leads to life. And we we can know that god is going to judge because what we see in this progression is the same progression we've seen in Ecclesiastes as a whole. Right? Man lived inward. This is the beginning of chapter 10. And then man lived onward in all of his work thinking about the end in the middle of chapter 10. And man lived outward as we think about this king and how he ought to bless others. Right? God can judge because he's already told you how to live. God can call into question your acts because he has told you in his word what the right and wise way to live is.”
41s
“Life that you have in Jesus is abundant. As we read in verse eight, let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head. When we look to to the vision that John has in Revelation. Right? The saints in heaven are given the white clothes of their savior Jesus. That we are anointed with the oil of gladness even as the holy spirit comes and indwells us, that God has blessed his people who live in wisdom with the joyful eating and drinking at God's own table.”
