Jesus is alive, risen, and Lord right now. Christ is not merely the answer for what happened in the past. Christ is the fix for everything happening in the world today. Sorrow and depression gain ground when circumstances become more real than Jesus, but the vision of the kingdom on the inside keeps a person from being pulled down.

The new birth gives that vision. Jesus says a person must be born again to see the kingdom of God, because religious activity alone cannot make His life and His work real. The Holy Ghost gives sight from the inside, and that sight gives a believer something to celebrate right in the house, even in a bad situation. Romans 12 calls believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices and to refuse conformity to this world. God created humanity to have dominion and to subdue evil through strength in the Lord.

The tree of life pictures fellowship with God: hearing from God, believing God, acting on God, and obeying God.
