#ForsakenForUs
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? It was not a rhetorical question. Because Jesus knew the answer, and it was for you. It was for me. It was for all of us. Jesus is forsaken by God so that we would never have to be. Amen? Listen, the judgment that should have fallen on us, it fell on Jesus instead. And this is what Jesus is crying out about.”

#ConfessChrist
“This is what it's all about. It was not one of Jesus' marvelous miracles that led this soldier to this point. It was not his tremendous teaching that evoked this confession from the centurion. It was his passion. It was the suffering that this Roman guy saw that he said, this has to be the son of God. There's no other explanation. And like the centurion, Mark wants us as his readers to confess Jesus is the Christ. The question is this morning, have you? Will you?”
