#ForgivenessIsCommunity
“``The glue of community in the way of Jesus is forgiveness. Because wherever there is community, there are humans. And humans have been hurt. And hurt people hurt people. And so we need to operate from a fundamental white hot center of our own reception and need and dependence on forgiveness for our brokenness so that we can extend it freely to others.”

#CreatedToBelong
“But do you catch what God says? This is before the the fracture and brokenness of what the Bible calls sin enters into the scene and God says it is not good for the human being to be alone. The sense of loneliness, of aloneness from the very beginning not how we were made to live. And so God creates community to solve the problem of our loneliness.”

#BelongBeforeBelieve
“But the good news is that your behaving doesn't negate your belonging. We can't behave our way into the grace of God and God's kingdom. It will begin to change us over time. God's presence and love will change our behavior over time because our behavior affects our community. And that is of central importance to who we are and what we're doing. But for others, we need to know that you can belong here before you believe here. Like believing what we believe and the ways that we believe it aren't the barrier of entry for you to experience the fruits of that belief and belonging in community. Like, you can this is a safe place where you can ask questions and wrestle with big ideas. You can belong here whether or not you believe here.”

#CommunityIsPractice
“At the base level, I think we have to acknowledge that community is a practice before it's a preference. Community, belonging is like a muscle that we have to build over time rather than a default thing that we just fall into comfortably like a warm blanket. Over the next five weeks, we're going to explore five practices that build the muscle of belonging in our lives. These are priority, chemistry, vulnerability, empathy, and accountability. And each of these practices comes at a cost. But here's the thing. Being in community costs you something, but not being in community costs you even more.”
