“But today, we are focusing in on Dorcas, who is our unsung hero. So what do we know about Dorcas? Most important thing we know about her is she was a disciple of Jesus. She was a learner. That's what disciple means. She was a follower of Jesus. Maybe that wasn't always the most important thing about her, but it had become the most important thing about her, is that she was a follower of Jesus. An act tells us that she was full of good works, an act of charity. The NIV translates that she was always helping the poor.”

“And one of the things I think the bible is showing us through these miracles is that god is beyond our understanding of an experiences of death. Death is completely final to us. It's the absolute end. We have no power to prevent it, to stop it, or to reverse it. But God does. God has power over death, and he has power beyond death. And raising people to death in this life shows that God has the power to do something that we absolutely do not have to do. Even if it's just a foretaste or a snapshot of the ultimate resurrection to come.”

“And Jesus entered the house of this grieving family and cleared the room and then said to this little girl whose name was Talitha, Talitha arise and she was raised from the dead. And so Peter is following the patterns of Jesus and he comes into the house of this grieving community, and he clears the room. And he gets down on his knees to pray because he himself is in submission to the one who has the power to heal. And then he says, her name, Tabitha, arise, and she does.”
