God’s foundations, however, do not change across all those different landscapes, centuries, people, and stories.

The contrast between a wedding in the snowy South of Chile and a funeral in the hot North shows how quickly life can change. Life can move from hopes and dreams to sadness and nostalgia in just a few hours. The spiritual geography of every person includes mountains, valleys, quiet lakes, and stormy waters. The stories carried by a church become a map for the journey, especially when children and the next generation need to walk their own path.

Jeremiah names the problem clearly: the heart is deceitful, and people do not know themselves as well as they think. God searches the heart and examines the mind.
