They can handle the person they remember, but they cannot handle the power now being revealed. Their familiarity with His humanity makes His divinity insulting to them.

Jesus exposes the danger of letting somebody’s memory stop the manifestation of God’s will. The issue is not the individual being seen; the issue is what God desires to do through that individual. When anointing frustrates familiarity, obedience must matter more than managing feelings. The truth will always outlive a lie, and the call of God cannot be surrendered to conditional people.

Matthew 13:58 presses the matter deeper: “He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.” The word “there” matters. God was ready to do something in that place, but the people were not there in the spirit. A person can be in the right place with the wrong mindset and still miss God.
