"But read this with me. It says, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things, there is no law. There is no law, which means you can, there is no limit. There is no limit. Just like you see a speed limit, that's the law. There is no limit on how much you can use these gifts because they are all inclusive." [00:01:03] (37 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Joy is also relatively independent from happiness and here's why joy is dependent on who Jesus is to us rather than how we feel or what is happening around us see your happiness can change depending on how you feel that day but see when you got joy it doesn't matter what's happening around you it's about who's in you see joy comes from the holy spirit which is abiding in God's presence and from hope in his word see joy can share space with other emotions really such as sadness and fear sad see see happiness if you're sad or you're fearful happiness tends to fade away but joy even though you're sad you can still have joy but see happiness can't last through." "Verse 10, it says, Then he said to them, Nehemiah 8 .10, Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing was prepared. For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. So the Levites quieted all the people and said, Be still, for the day is holy. Do not be grieved. And then all the people went their way to eat and drink, to send portions. And to rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them. See, we have to understand that they were being given the law." [00:16:33] (50 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"And Nehemiah says that this joy that he's talking about of the lord is our strength and so in verse 12 he says that they understood the word that was declared to them so they went away praising god because they understood god's word would bring them a sense of joy so my next point is that joy is strength joy is strength so my question to you is where are you getting your strength if joy is strength where do you look for your strength from maybe it's from your job because you love those people you work with are y 'all laughing." "See, David knew that it is being in his presence which means it's not something we can always see he said he came to him in his dreams it was just not something you could always see at least not for those on the outside but on the inside you know something is working you know something is changing but see because it starts on the inside don't you know that sometimes joy has to compete with some other things that's living in there and it's really depending on what did I say at the beginning of the sermon which one we decide to listen to which one we decide to follow that day now if we're talking about what's on the inside if you still got your finger back in Galatians 5 just above 22 in verse 16 it says for I say then walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh for the flesh lust against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh and these are contrary to one another so that you do not so that you do not do the things you wish wow he says it won't even let you do the things you want to do." "And probably the one that's probably the hardest hit is some of you don't even think you deserve joy. So you punish yourself. In different ways. Because you don't think you deserve it. But I tell you that the fruit of the Spirit comes from the Holy Spirit. So if you're believing in Jesus Christ, that sugar is just sitting down there. And it's just waiting to be stirred. It's just waiting to be stirred. But unfortunately, some of us just let that sugar sit. And the Holy Spirit is like, well, let me add a little more sugar. And you're still not stirring it. Well, I'm going to add a little more sugar. And the problem is some of it has a root." [00:29:58] (62 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"See, some of you have been in the church for a long time. Some of you have been hurt so much that it's beginning to take root. And you've become bitter as a result of it. And when you start to become bitter, what happens is the enemy can use that as a foothold. And then that bitterness and this unforgiveness can kind of go hand in hand. And you don't want nothing to do with nobody. And that's why I was telling you, you know, that fruit that's sitting on a tree. When it's not given out, it rots. It falls to the ground. So unforgiveness is an enemy of your joy. And then the other one, when you know that joy is getting low, is judgment." [00:31:20] (53 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"I'm gonna keep moving now so because we need to we need to see how we can restore this joy how we can live it to the full so my next my next point is joy is fulfilled in Jesus joy is fulfilled in Jesus joy is fulfilled in Jesus in John 10 10 this is also from the Amplified he says that the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and to destroy he says I came that they may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance the the abundance of God's love the abundance of God's joy the abundance of God's goodness and kindness is wrapped up in him it's wrapped up in him living joy."
