45s
“``Recognize that the power of the disciple is not found in the disciple. The power of the disciple is found in our proximity to God. The closer we are to God and the reminder that God has not left us, so we need to run to him. He is near to us and we must run to him. That's where the power to live as God has called us to live. The power to overcome temptations and fears and struggles and anxiety and doubt all rest in the one who has the power to create everything from nothing.”
41s
“The one who has the power to split the seas with the word. The one who has the power to conquer giants. The one who has the power to save from the fire and the mouths of lions. The one who has the power to leave heaven and become a man and live perfectly on this earth, and then the power to endure the cross and the sin of all humanity, and then to receive the full wrath of God, and then the one who has the power to conquer death and be raised forever for all of eternity and to promise life to us. That is the power of the disciple.”
39s
“Discipleship cannot be one leg in the world and one leg with God. Because I promise you, if you have any leg in the world, you are being discipled by the world and not by God. Now, we might not say this out loud, but this is how we live. You know, no one would say, oh yeah, I do that, but but this is what we model, this is what we do, this is how we live. The essence of being a disciple of Christ is that he is the only one you follow. So, must fully deny ourselves so that we don't follow our own desire and will, but God's.”
43s
“Be sure of this, church family, be sure of this. If you're watching us on livestream, thank you for watching us, but here in the room and on livestream, be sure of this. You are being discipled by something. There is something or someone in your life that is discipling you, That is forming you or what you think, how you act, what you believe, your worldview, all of that is being formed. You are being discipled by something. And it's either the world or it's God. No one gets to choose neutrality in this. No one gets to be Switzerland. Right? No one gets to say we're neutral.”
