Discerning True Spirituality: The Path to Christlikeness
Devotional
Day 1: Discernment in Spiritual Teachings
True spiritual growth is not measured by outward displays of wealth or charisma but by becoming more like Jesus Christ. In a world where many are misled by preachers who prioritize prosperity and entertainment, it is crucial to compare any spiritual manifestation with the life and teachings of Jesus to discern its authenticity. Jesus is the ultimate example of a Spirit-filled life, and His life should be the standard against which all spiritual teachings are measured. [03:09]
"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." (Hebrews 5:14, ESV)
Reflection: Think of a recent teaching or message you heard. How does it align with the life and teachings of Jesus? What steps can you take to ensure you are discerning true spiritual teachings?
Day 2: The Role of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit's primary role is to form Christ within us, a process that requires time and dedication. This transformation is gradual, much like the development of Jesus' body in Mary. As believers, we are called to allow the Holy Spirit to work within us, shaping us to become more like Christ. This journey of spiritual growth is not instantaneous but involves a continuous commitment to living according to God's will. [04:50]
"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18, ESV)
Reflection: In what areas of your life do you see the Holy Spirit working to transform you into the likeness of Christ? How can you cooperate more fully with this process?
Day 3: The Danger of False Teachings
Many are deceived by preachers who focus on prosperity and entertainment rather than true spiritual growth. True grace empowers us to overcome sin, not to indulge in it. It is essential to be aware of the dangers of false teachings that do not emphasize the seriousness of sin and the need for repentance. True spiritual maturity involves recognizing the importance of living a holy life, free from the bondage of sin. [15:12]
"For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." (Jude 1:4, ESV)
Reflection: Are there teachings or influences in your life that may be leading you away from true spiritual growth? How can you guard your heart against such deceptions?
Day 4: The Importance of Humility and Submission
True spiritual maturity involves humility, submission to spiritual authority, and a genuine hunger for God's Word. These are marks of a life transformed by the true grace of God. Humility allows us to recognize our need for God's guidance, while submission to spiritual authority helps us grow in our faith. A constant hunger for God's Word is evidence of a life committed to living according to His will. [36:32]
"Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'" (1 Peter 5:5, ESV)
Reflection: In what ways can you demonstrate humility and submission in your spiritual journey? How can you cultivate a deeper hunger for God's Word?
Day 5: Evidence of True Conversion
A genuine conversion is evidenced by a constant hunger for God's Word and a commitment to living a life that reflects Christ's character. It is important to examine our lives to ensure we are truly born again, as evidenced by a longing for the Word of God and a desire to live according to His will. True conversion leads to a transformation that is visible in our actions and attitudes. [52:52]
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)
Reflection: Reflect on your spiritual journey. Do you see evidence of true conversion in your life? What steps can you take to deepen your commitment to living a life that reflects Christ's character?
Sermon Summary
In today's message, I emphasized the importance of discerning true spiritual teachings from counterfeit ones. Many in the Christian community have drifted away from the core truths of the Scriptures, often being misled by preachers who prioritize wealth and popularity over genuine spiritual growth. The true mark of being filled with the Holy Spirit is not in outward displays of charisma or wealth but in becoming more like Jesus Christ. Jesus is the ultimate example of a Spirit-filled life, and any spiritual manifestation should be compared to His life and teachings.
I shared my personal journey of being filled with the Holy Spirit and how it led me to a deeper understanding of the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit's role is to form Christ within us, a process that takes time and dedication. This transformation is not instantaneous, just as Jesus' physical body took time to develop in Mary. Similarly, our spiritual growth is a gradual process of becoming more like Christ.
I warned against the dangers of following blind leaders and false teachings that focus on prosperity and entertainment rather than true spiritual growth. Many are deceived by preachers who do not emphasize the seriousness of sin and the need for repentance. True grace does not give us a license to sin but empowers us to overcome it. The grace of God should lead us to live holy lives, free from the bondage of sin.
I also addressed the importance of humility and submission to spiritual authority, as well as the need for genuine repentance and forgiveness. True spiritual maturity is marked by a constant hunger for God's Word and a desire to live according to His will. I urged everyone to examine their lives and ensure they are truly born again, as evidenced by a longing for the Word of God and a commitment to living a life that reflects Christ's character.

John 14:16-17 - "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
1 Peter 1:15-16 - "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'"
2 Timothy 4:2-4 - "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

Sermon Clips
I have often said that a wise man learns from the mistakes of others a foolish man does not even learn from his own mistakes we want to be wise and learn from the mistakes of other churches what is the reason why so much of Christianity today has drifted completely away from the truth of the scriptures. [00:00:38]
The first person in human history who had the holy spirit in him and filled him was Jesus Christ so therefore I see the perfect example of the spirit-filled man is Jesus Christ so any manifestation that people say this is the Holy Spirit very easy for me I compare it with Jesus Christ. [00:02:19]
The Holy Spirit came upon Mary to produce Jesus body in her not to make her go around even to be a preacher and he said she was primarily to produce Jesus body in her and you read in Luke chapter one the Holy Spirit said to her the Spirit of God will come upon you. [00:04:36]
Jesus is no longer the model they made other preachers and other great so-called great men of god I don't believe they're great man of God their examples so if you follow a wrong example Jesus once said you follow a blind man he going to the ditch and you're going to the ditch. [00:05:19]
I say this for your protection and also because i feel that there are people sitting here who are going to be deceived now let me give you my personal conviction from what I have seen of many of you sitting here in CFC today a number of you I believe right now if Jesus comes you will go to hell. [00:07:38]
Preach the Word of God not the empty theories that so many people are preaching and be ready in season out of season that means when it is convenient for you to preach when it is not convenient from you to preach when you are fresh when you're tired makes no difference always be ready to preach the Word of God. [00:11:58]
The word used here hygienic doctrine now if you want to know if you want to understand where is hygiene given importance it's in a hospital in a good Hospital and even in a bad hospital the operating theater will really be kept clean hygiene is mostly found in an operating theater of a hospital. [00:13:14]
If you turn from sin if you really desire to be free from sin then God will encourage you but not if you're going to keep on living in sin I'll tell you honestly I'm here to reprove rebuke and exhort because I don't want any of you to go to hell and don't listen to those people who say it's alright if you sin. [00:14:24]
The Full Gospel you can be a woman caught in adultery she was probably a prostitute I don't know going and sleeping with some man and they caught her terrible she probably committed hunt adultery a hundred times and in one word jesus said I don't condemn you that is the first message we preach in CFC. [00:17:23]
I believe this is one of the tests of real new birth and I have to say it's sparse quite likely that number of you here are not really born again i have to tell you the truth because i've seen some of you and I can see it in some of your faces and especially in your eyes some of you are not born again. [00:52:52]
The true grace of God shows that a genuinely born again person will have a constant hunger for the word of God every healthy baby will cry out for milk more than once a day and it's not just to ease his conscience you know some people ease their conscience ah I read the Bible today. [00:55:02]
The true grace of God Christ has left you an example to walk in his steps what steps who committed no sin who had no deceit in his mouth who went somebody yelled at him he did not yell back when he suffered unjustly he did not threaten saying wait till one day I'll teach you a lesson. [00:57:27]
