Day 1: When Angels Wrestle Darkness to Restore Authority

The unseen war rages where obedience collides with chaos. A woman possessed flings herself under a truck dashboard, her body a battleground. Yet two believers speak Christ’s name—unseen forces hoist her upright, marching her toward freedom. This is the authority Jesus gave His followers: not theoretical, but tangible. Spiritual realities demand spiritual responses. Every command in His name aligns heaven’s power against hell’s schemes. Victory begins when we act on what He said, not what we feel. [00:39]

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” (Luke 10:19, ESV)

Reflection: Where have you hesitated to wield Christ’s authority? What fear or lie keeps you silent when darkness taunts?

Day 2: The Serpent’s First Whisper: “Did God Really Say?”

Doubt slithers in as a question, not a declaration. In Eden, the enemy twisted God’s single prohibition into a caricature of tyranny. “Any tree?” became the gateway to distrust. This pattern repeats daily: God’s clear word gets diluted by our cravings, cultural noise, or convenient interpretations. Every compromise starts with minimizing His voice. To walk in power, we must cling to what He actually said, not the enemy’s warped echo. [02:38]

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field which the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1, ESV)

Day 3: No Favorites—Just Sinners at the Same Cross

A Roman soldier and a tanner’s housemate—Cornelius and Peter—shatter religious hierarchies. God’s Spirit falls on outsiders while insiders gawk. Partiality dies at the foot of the cross. Whether rich or homeless, addicted or disciplined, all share one label: sinner. All need one remedy: grace. The ground levels where blood soaks the dirt. Our distinctions crumble; His mercy stands. So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” (Acts 10:34-35, ESV)

Day 4: Wheat and Weeds Growing Side by Side

A farmer sows good seed, but sabotage follows. Workers itch to uproot imposters, yet the master says wait. Premature judgment damages the harvest. Some “weeds” today become wheat tomorrow. Our job isn’t sorting, but sowing—trusting the Reaper’s timing. The field tests our patience: can we love the tangled mess while awaiting the harvest? [32:06]

He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field…” (Matthew 13:24, ESV)

Reflection: Who have you labeled “hopeless”? How might waiting, not weeding, reflect God’s heart?

Day 5: Sandcastles and the Tsunami of Glory

Life’s achievements crumble like sand through clenched fists. Muscles fade, wealth evaporates, and time accelerates. Yet this entropy isn’t cruelty—it’s a mercy. Futility screams, “This isn’t home!” Every loss points to the day fire purges creation’s groaning. What we clutch now will burn; what we surrender to Christ will rise. [10:41]

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. (2 Peter 3:10, ESV)

Reflection: What “sandcastle” are you fortifying? What would it look like to build for eternity instead?

Sermon Summary

Genesis 3 sets the backbone: the serpent comes in crafty, and the first thing out of his mouth is already twisted. God had said not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but the enemy frames it as, “Has God said you shall not eat from any tree?” The lie starts inside the question. The devil is a liar from the beginning, and “Did God really say?” is not an innocent voice. It is the doorway into confusion, disobedience, pain, and then accusation against God.

Romans 2:11 sets the other backbone: there is no partiality with God. Peter’s vision on the rooftop and Cornelius receiving the Holy Spirit show that God does not play favorites. Whoever fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. The gospel does not say some are cursed because God hates them, and others are blessed because God likes them better. The gospel says there is no distinction because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Sin is the common thread. The world is not a bunch of good people needing a little cleanup. The world is under futility, corruption, and death. The sandcastle picture makes it plain: if everybody is competing on the beach and a tsunami is on the horizon, the best castle does not matter. Jesus is the ark, and God is calling souls into safety before the demolition comes.

Creation’s futility is not meant to leave mankind busted and hopeless. Romans 8 says creation was subjected to futility “in hope.” God set limits on human life because His Spirit will not strive with man forever. God is not the author of every wicked thing that happens. Genesis 6 shows God grieved, pained, hurt, even tortured in His heart over human evil.

The testimony of ignoring God’s warning makes the issue painfully real. The warning came clearly: “It is crazy what you’re doing to yourself.” When that voice was dismissed, the fallout came, and the later answer from God was, “I didn’t do this to you.” The pattern was the same as Eden: God spoke, the heart minimized it, and suffering followed.

Matthew 13 gives the big context through the wheat and the weeds. God does not rip everything up before maturity because wheat could be torn out with the weeds. Judgment is coming, but mercy is at work until the harvest. The call today is simple and urgent: if God has spoken, do not harden the heart, do not take the bait, and do not trade His voice for the serpent’s question.

“He was grieved in his heart. This word, I looked it up in the Strong's because I was like, what what does it mean that he was grieved in his heart? The the other words they use to explain this is pained, hurt, vexed, and tortured. God was tortured in his heart. This is the all powerful creator of the universe having this experience in his heart, in his own spirit, that when he looked upon the earth, he was grieved. And so, I just think that this is so important for some of us to hear and understand, that God is not the author of everything that happens or is happening. There are things that we have asked God, how could you let this happen? And he's asking the people who are actually responsible the same thing. Sometimes we ourselves are the ones responsible. How does he actually feel about these things? He's grieved.”
