#LetTheBibleGetThroughYou
“``Bible reading, devotion to the word, is more than than just about pragmatics. Those statistics are true, and they matter. They do make a difference, but so much of regular bible intake and bible study is not just what it does practically in our hearts and in our lives, But even more than that, it draws us close to the god of the universe, the god that knows us and made us and loves us. Taking in scripture does something in our relationship with the god of the universe. And so we say at Christ's point, the goal isn't just to get through the bible, the goal is for the bible to get through you and me.”

#ChooseYourDevotion
“Well, if I could be so bold, I would like to ask you a personal question this morning. And that question is this, what are you devoted What are you devoted to? What are you committed to or or really committed to? What are you passionate about? What are you willing to sacrifice for or build your life around? What are your personal non negotiables? What are the things that you put on your calendar that nothing is going to get in the way of? What gets your attention, your affection, your thoughts, your time, your energy, your effort, and your resources. What are you devoted to?”

#LeanIntoTheImperfectChurch
“Every church is an imperfect expression of a perfect god. The commonness of this imperfect experience does not make it any easier when we are hurt, but notice that despite this fact, Jesus doesn't call the church or the people, forget about it. It's almost as if Jesus knows that this will be a very imperfect place, and he calls us, you and me, to lean into it anyway.”

#SimpleFaithRhythms
“A full disclosure, nothing I said this morning, is breaking news. If you've grown up in church or been a part of a church or even if you visited a church once or twice, I mean, that's not exactly cutting edge teaching. Read your bible, like commit to a people, be hospitable, pray. It seems simple and I know that. And yet, is a picture of the regular regular ordinary way of life that godly men and women have been devoted to for thousands of years.”

#CommunityOverIsolation
“Younger found that US soldiers returning from Afghanistan may be more commonly diagnosed with PTSD by returning from war to a hyper individualistic society than from their experiences at war. Ain't that fascinating? In other words, isolation can be more dangerous and detrimental, to your life than fighting on the battlefield. This this is true in the church. Any picture of the Christian life that does not include fellow brothers and sisters is a truncated view of the Christian life. The reality is we need each other. We are desperate one another.”

#MakeTimeToPray
“Now, I say that, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that for the vast majority of us, that is a Christian ideal, but it is not a reality. Most of us, if we were being honest, we could say that we can't remember the last time someone asked us to do something, and we looked at our calendar and said, wouldn't you know it, but I'm praying then. And we don't do that. We know we should, but we don't. And so I just wanna encourage you, if that's you this morning, like, just take a small step. Remember remember, prayer is not something that we have to do, it's something that we get to do. The god of the universe has invited us into a relationship with him, and the god of the universe is accessible.”

#IsolationHarmsFaith
“We're not called to live lives of isolation, and yet oftentimes, we choose, to live lives of isolation for any number of reasons, but choosing to avoid a commitment to a local church community, and I would argue a particular local church community, is not just less than ideal. It is dangerous. It's dangerous. The impact of a life of isolation is far reaching in the Christian life.”

#JesusInvitesToTheTable
“I mean, just think about the early church, the spirit of the living god, the third member of the trinity, the holy spirit falls on a people. Their eyes are open to the beauty of the gospel. They trust Jesus. Thousands of people are added to the number of followers of Jesus. And so you're reading about this New Testament church, and you're thinking to yourself, I wonder what's gonna happen next. I mean, are signs and wonders happening. People who didn't want anything to do with the lord are following Jesus, and you're going, what's god going to do next? Do you know what he does next? He invites people around the table.”
