Jairus comes to Jesus with the kind of need that strips everything down: “My little daughter is dying.” His faith is simple but real. If Jesus puts His hands on her, she will be healed and live. Jesus goes with him, even through a crowd full of people who all have their own need, their own pain, and their own reason for pressing close.
The woman with the issue of blood carries a different kind of desperation. Jairus has a name, a title, and a place in the synagogue, but she is just called a woman. She has been bleeding for twelve years, suffering under doctors, spending every dollar, and getting worse instead of better. Desperation opens doors that complacency keeps shut, because desperation finally says, “God, I cannot do this without You.”
The woman hears about Jesus, and what she hears makes her move. She gets behind Him, presses through the crowd, gets low, and reaches for His clothes. Jairus falls at Jesus’ feet, and the woman has to get low to touch the hem of His garment. Humility becomes the place where faith reaches for God. Jesus knows what she thought because He is God, and her thought is enough: “If I just touch His clothes, I’ll be healed.”
Jesus stops when power goes out from Him, not because He needs information, but because her healing needs a testimony. The woman tells Him the whole truth, and Jesus calls her “daughter.” Her faith does not merely stop the bleeding. Her faith brings her from being a nameless sufferer to being called a daughter, freed to go in peace.
Jairus then receives the news he feared most: his daughter is dead. Jesus ignores the voices of fear and says, “Don’t be afraid. Just believe.” Faith has to ignore some things people say, because doubt, fear, and constant bad reports can erode what God is building in the heart. Jesus puts out the mourners who laugh, takes only those who believe, and speaks to the girl: “Little girl, I say to you, get up.”
Jesus still calls dead places to get up. Circumstances do not get the final word, bills do not get the final word, fear does not get the final word, and sickness does not get the final word. Faith must connect to God’s authority, because God is still the healer. Healing may come immediately or gradually, but God remains the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Salvation may begin with an encounter, but transformation grows through a relationship with Jesus.

Key Takeaways
- 1. Desperation opens doors complacency keeps shut Desperation is not polished religion or pretending everything is fine. Desperation gets honest about the places where money, effort, doctors, and personal strength cannot fix the problem. God meets the heart that comes low and admits it needs Him. [04:14]
- 2. Faith moves when it hears Jesus The woman did not only hear stories about Jesus and stay where she was. What she heard pushed her through the crowd and brought her close enough to reach for Him. Real faith does not stay passive when it becomes convinced that Jesus can change the situation. [06:21]
- 3. Jesus turns sufferers into daughters The woman entered the crowd unnamed, ashamed, and exhausted by twelve years of suffering. Jesus stopped, received her whole truth, and called her daughter. Christ does more than remove a problem; He restores identity, peace, and belonging. [16:34]
- 4. Ignore fear and keep believing Jairus had every reason to think the delay had ruined everything. Jesus answered the report of death with one command: do not be afraid, just believe. Faith must refuse to hand final authority to the loudest voices, the worst reports, or the longest history. [18:08]
- 5. Connect faith to God’s authority Circumstances try to act like they are in charge, whether through sickness, finances, pain, or fear. God’s authority is greater than every condition that tries to name the future. Faith receives more when it remembers who God is and what God can do.
