“Control what you can control. You can't control their next move, but you can control your next move. You aren't responsible for those their words, but you are responsible for your words. Control what you can control. You can't control their attitude. But how many of you know you can control your attitude? Control what you can control. Don't try to play the Holy Spirit in somebody else's life. Listen, you have a hard enough time being you. Don't try to be the holy spirit. Don't try and fix them. It only makes it worse.”

“Because to really listen and understand, you better be more focused on connecting than correcting. That's hard for our sin nature. We just wanna fix it and where I'm starting from my vantage point, that's the right way but that's not how to honor God and honor others. Listen, I mean this sincerely. I'm convinced that you and I would be shocked about how much of the conflict we're experiencing in relationships would actually go away if we would simply take the time to try and understand where the other person is coming from. Practice it and see if God might just use it. Number five, speak the truth in love. Speak the truth love.”
