Even in the darkest moments of life, when everything feels numb and hopeless, God is present and ready to meet us with His peace and hope. When we reach the end of ourselves and call out to Him, He responds—not always with a loud voice or dramatic sign, but often with a quiet assurance that brings light into our darkness. No matter how broken or lost you feel, God’s love can break through and offer a new beginning, just as He did for a young girl who felt like a nobody and found herself surrounded by despair. In that moment of surrender, God’s presence brought a peace she hadn’t known in years, reminding her—and us—that He is real and He cares deeply for each of His children. [07:14]
Psalm 34:17-18 (ESV)
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Reflection: When have you felt most alone or broken, and how might you invite God into that place today, asking Him to meet you with His peace?
True transformation begins when we surrender our own plans and desires to God, allowing Him to lead us even when His path looks different from what we expected. Sometimes, God asks us to step out in faith, to trust Him with our future, and to let go of our own carefully crafted plans. This surrender is not always easy, but it opens the door for God to provide in ways we could never imagine—whether it’s a new school, a new ministry, or a new opportunity. As we walk in obedience, God’s faithfulness becomes evident, and He shapes our lives for His glory and our good. [13:27]
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you sense God asking you to surrender your plans? What step of faith can you take today to trust Him more fully?
God delights in keeping His promises and providing for His children, often in ways that are unexpected and deeply personal. When we look back over our lives, we can see moments where God answered prayers—sometimes even before we spoke them aloud. Whether it’s providing a home, healing, or even something as simple as a washer and dryer, God’s attention to detail and His faithfulness are undeniable. Remembering these moments strengthens our faith and reminds us that God is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives, always working for our good. [19:23]
Matthew 7:7-11 (ESV)
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Reflection: Look back over the past year—what is one specific way God has answered a prayer or provided for you? How can you thank Him for His faithfulness today?
No matter what hardships or pain we experience, God’s goodness remains a constant thread throughout our lives. Like the prodigal son who remembered his father’s kindness, we are invited to look back and see the history of God’s goodness in our own stories. Even when people fail us or circumstances change, God’s character does not. Reflecting on His faithfulness in the past gives us hope and courage to trust Him with our present and future, knowing that He is always working for our good and His glory. [24:34]
Luke 15:17-20 (ESV)
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.”
Reflection: Take a few minutes to remember a time when God showed you His goodness. How can recalling this memory help you trust Him in your current season?
When Jesus becomes our Savior and best friend, our lives are transformed from the inside out, and our greatest desire becomes to glorify Him in everything we do. This transformation is not just about a one-time decision but about daily choosing to live in a way that reflects His love, grace, and faithfulness to those around us. Even in brokenness, God breathes new life into us, and our story becomes a testimony of His power and goodness. As we walk with Him, our lives become a living reflection of His glory, inviting others to experience the same hope and transformation. [25:49]
2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Reflection: In what specific way can you reflect Jesus’ love and character to someone in your life today, so that your life points them to Him?
Growing up in a small North Florida town as the daughter of farm workers, life seemed simple and familiar—until everything changed at age ten. My mother’s secret relationship led to a sudden move, tearing our family apart overnight. The confusion and pain of leaving my father and the only home I’d ever known left deep wounds. Even after reuniting with my dad, the sense of loss lingered. Our family was fractured, and the darkness of depression and anger settled in. Poverty and brokenness became our daily reality, and I struggled to find meaning or hope, eventually reaching a point where I questioned whether life was worth living.
But in my lowest moment, I remembered what I’d heard about God in church as a child. With nothing left to lose, I cried out to Him, asking if He was real to show Himself. In that quiet desperation, I encountered a peace and hope I hadn’t felt in years. Jesus met me on that restaurant floor, and from that night forward, everything changed. I became hungry for God’s Word, seeking Him in Scripture and prayer, and found a new purpose and joy that transcended my circumstances. My relationship with Jesus became the anchor that held me through every storm.
As I grew in faith, I saw God’s fingerprints all over my life—restoring relationships, providing for needs, and guiding my steps in unexpected ways. He led me to start youth and college ministries, even when I felt unqualified. Through seasons of hardship, like my brother’s illness, I learned to trust God’s goodness regardless of outcomes. God’s faithfulness was evident in the miraculous ways He provided, from a family home to the smallest desires of my heart.
Looking back, I see how God took my broken pieces and created something beautiful. The richness of life is not found in what the world offers, but in experiencing God’s friendship and goodness. Even when life is hard, I remember His history of faithfulness. My desire is that everything in my life would reflect His glory, and I pray that others would encounter the same transforming love and hope that Jesus offers.
Luke 15:11-24 (ESV) – The Parable of the Prodigal Son —
> And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.
But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”
Psalm 34:18 (ESV) —
> The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
