#RootlessHeart
“They wanted the Jesus sample, they didn't want surrender. They wanted the croissant, they didn't want the cross. It's very possible that many of us are taking the same approach. We want the Jesus sample on Sunday. We come to Shiloh. It's fun, but we don't want to carry our cross. We don't want to love our enemies. We don't want to pursue holiness without which no one will see the Lord. We want stuff from Jesus, but we don't wanna surrender to Jesus. And this, beloved, is a description of a rootless heart.”

#TakeUpYourCross
“And I wanna tell you, if we live a rootless life, we will live a fruitless life. We will keep coming to church, putting on the holy show, acting holy, acting happy, and never changing. And Jesus wants more for us today, beloved. He wants more for us today. He doesn't just want outward enthusiasm. He wants to do a good work, a hard work in our life. He wants to be rooted in our lives. So listen, today, you know what Jesus says? He said, take up your croissant and take up your cross. It's both. He gives us our daily bread every day, and he calls us to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.”

#GoodSoilGoodFruit
“In the same way, beloved, the Lord wants our heart to be good soil. He wants us to hear his word and he wants us to hold on to the word as well, beloved. He wants the word to to penetrate our heart. He wants us to receive it with joy, but he also wants to take root in our heart. in our heart, beloved. And if we hear and hold on to the word of God, which is the God breathed word, the word given to us by the creator, beloved, then we will produce a harvest of good fruit in our life.”

#TransformedInsideOut
“The salvation of the Lord Jesus, beloved, it is all encompassing. It is it is far reaching. It reaches every part of our life, the good, the bad, the ugly, and the messy. And in this morning, beloved, before you leave, Jesus wants you and I to start producing good fruit in every area of our life. He doesn't wanna leave us unchanged. He's not here to just be our surface savior that just changes our appearance on the outside. He wants to go deeper. He wants to take root in our life and begin to change us from the inside out. Amen?”

#CompassionOverReligion
“It's the resistant, hardened heart that comes from living a very religious life. A religious life where you care more about traditions than loving people. This is where you live with this inflated sense of pride and ego, and you have this holier than thou attitude, and you think that you are better than the sex, drugs, and rock and roll people. Beloved, it's possible to have a hard heart in which you memorize and even proclaim the commandments of God on the outside, but you don't have the compassion of God on the inside.”

#BringYourMessToJesus
“But I wanna tell you something. Jesus cares about those areas of your life. He cares about that stuff. He doesn't care about the the fake image that we all project and we're all I mean, guilty of this, right, where we're pretending to be happier and holier than we actually are. He cares about the real stuff, the dark stuff, the messy stuff that we try to tuck away and and hide from everybody. That bitterness, that resentment, beloved, that we're harboring towards somebody, that unforgiveness that we don't wanna let go, the unhealthy habits that are eating away at us and causing our souls to wither, the gossip that we enjoy taking part in, the loneliness and the isolation that we're wrestling with, like, all of that Jesus cares about, and Jesus wants to deal with that.”

#MoreThanASunday
“Now, last Sunday, pastor Javier said something really key, and I wanna reinforce it. This is not just a Sunday thing. Right? This is not just a Sunday thing where you come to church, sing 2.5 songs, listen to a religious TED Talk, and then you go home, and nothing changes. It is very possible to come to church and never change, and still be criticizing the people at the church, and still be living with this crippling sense of anxiety and worry and dread, and still be living with shame from the mistakes of our past.”

#FindRestInGod
“Beloved, the only cure for a restless heart that has an eternal void is to find your rest, your peace, your acceptance, your validation in the loving arms of an eternal father. And if that's you, whether you're here or watching in line, if you find yourself constantly looking for the next thing to fill your cup, constantly looking for satisfaction and pleasure and acceptance in everything under the sun, and you're tired because you realize that nothing is enough, I wanna invite you today, follow the Lord Jesus.”
