“And yet, we hear that he will be the foundation of the church. The people in my stories were not perfect people, but that made them all the more real and helped me know that I can show up in those journeys of faith with all my imperfections and that God can work through them. We hear in Romans of how we each have different gifts and abilities and that we are called to be a living sacrifice as an act of worship, spiritual worship. We each show up differently in our relationships with people, friends, family, in our work. We all had different gifts. And here's the amazing thing, in ways you may not know or expect it, you are the cornerstone in someone else's life and story.”

“He's a guy who denies Jesus, who doesn't always get who Jesus is, and today he gets it right. But that's not always it goes for him. In fact, after today, he will deny Jesus as he's on the way to the cross. And yet, we hear that he will be the foundation of the church. The people in my stories were not perfect people, but that made them all the more real and helped me know that I can show up in those journeys of faith with all my imperfections and that God can work through them.”

“And here's the amazing thing, in ways you may not know or expect it, you are the cornerstone in someone else's life and story. You are the person they know of, who is a person of faith, who loves to go to choir, spends time at their church or practices in devotions, who tries to be faithful and generous and work towards justice and be a light in this world. This little light of mine that you let shine in this world. You are part of a huge network of people, past, present, and future. You are a part of a quarry that is bigger than this room, bigger than the people you know in your life.”
