God's blessings are often conditional, requiring our obedience and alignment with His will. While His love is unconditional, the release of His promises depends on our willingness to follow His commands. This understanding challenges the misconception that God's promises are automatic. The Israelites' journey serves as a reminder that deliverance does not guarantee destiny. Their failure to enter the Promised Land due to disobedience highlights the importance of aligning our lives with God's Word. We must be vigilant and avoid complacency to experience the fullness of His blessings. [01:24]
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (ESV): "And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God."
Reflection: What specific area of your life requires greater obedience to align with God's will, and how can you take a step towards that today?
Day 2: The Danger of Complacency
The journey of the Israelites from deliverance to disobedience serves as a stark warning against complacency. Despite being delivered from Egypt, their failure to enter the Promised Land was due to disobedience. This narrative reminds us that deliverance is not the end but the beginning of a journey towards fulfilling God's promises. We must remain vigilant, ensuring our lives align with God's Word to avoid falling into complacency and missing out on His promises. This requires a conscious effort to stay connected to God and His commands. [19:01]
Hebrews 3:12-14 (ESV): "Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end."
Reflection: Identify an area in your spiritual life where you have become complacent. What practical steps can you take to reignite your passion and commitment to God's Word?
Day 3: Balancing Encouragement and Truth
While it is uplifting to hear about God's promises, it is equally important to confront the areas in our lives that hinder His blessings. Balancing encouragement with truth is essential for spiritual growth and maturity. We must not shy away from the hard truths of Scripture, as they are crucial for our transformation. This balance helps us grow in our faith and align our lives with God's will, ensuring we do not miss out on His promises. [04:46]
2 Timothy 4:2-4 (ESV): "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths."
Reflection: Reflect on a recent situation where you avoided confronting a hard truth. How can you approach similar situations in the future with both encouragement and truth?
Day 4: The Filling of the Holy Spirit
Experiencing the fullness of God's Spirit often requires moving from disobedience to obedience. The filling of the Holy Spirit is just one step away, calling for a return to holiness and a deep hunger for righteousness. This journey involves a conscious decision to seek God's presence earnestly and align our lives with His commands. It is a call to action for both individuals and the church to pursue holiness and righteousness actively. [45:12]
Ephesians 5:18-20 (ESV): "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Reflection: What is one area of disobedience in your life that is hindering the filling of the Holy Spirit? How can you take a step towards obedience today?
Day 5: The Urgency of Salvation
God's patience is an opportunity for repentance, but it should not be taken for granted. Salvation is a free gift, but it requires our response through confession and belief in Jesus Christ. This urgency calls us to respond to God's offer of salvation without delay. We must recognize the importance of confessing our faith and living in alignment with God's will to fully receive His gift of salvation. [46:05]
2 Peter 3:9 (ESV): "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
Reflection: Consider someone in your life who has not yet accepted the gift of salvation. How can you share the urgency and importance of this gift with them today?
Sermon Summary
In today's message, we explored the profound truth that God's blessings often come with conditions. While God desires to bless His people, these blessings are not always automatic. They require our obedience and alignment with His will. This is a challenging message because it confronts the common misconception that God's promises are unconditional. While His love and grace are indeed boundless, the release of His blessings often hinges on our willingness to follow His commands.
We delved into the example of the Israelites, who, despite being delivered from Egypt, failed to enter the Promised Land due to disobedience. This serves as a stark reminder that deliverance does not guarantee destiny. The journey from deliverance to disobedience is a cautionary tale for us today. We must be vigilant, ensuring that our lives align with God's Word and that we do not fall into the trap of complacency.
The message also addressed the importance of balancing encouragement with truth. While it's uplifting to hear about God's promises, we must also be willing to confront the areas in our lives that hinder His blessings. This balance is crucial for spiritual growth and maturity. We must not shy away from the hard truths of Scripture, as they are essential for our transformation.
Furthermore, we discussed the role of obedience in experiencing the fullness of God's Spirit. The filling of the Holy Spirit is often just one step away—moving from disobedience to obedience. This requires a return to the old paths of holiness and a deep hunger for righteousness. It's a call to action for both individuals and the church as a whole to seek God's presence earnestly.
Finally, we touched on the urgency of salvation. God's patience is an opportunity for repentance, but we must not take it for granted. Salvation is a free gift, but it requires our response. We must confess and believe in Jesus Christ to receive this gift fully.

Sermon Clips
I believe God wants to bless his people, do you agree? But many blessings come with conditions, and a lot of times we don't realize that in the church. I like what Paul Carter said: there is a sense in which God's promises are unconditional and that our disobedience will never stop his graciousness or his plans, but there is also a sense in which those promises will be released only through the obedience of God's people. [00:49:05]
It's a very healthy tension on God's blessings, but there's conditions often. I mean, let's just look at salvation: if you call upon the name of the Lord, you will be saved. It's not just universalism where God saves everyone; there's a condition there. And there are many great songs we sing, those songs, and you know, songs such as the new one that's out. [00:84:79]
And that's what I love to be encouraged. I'm encouraged, believe it or not, but often before you encourage, you have to discourage. People have to see their need for a savior, and I get sometimes frustrated because, you know, we go, would you just accept Jesus? Would you just accept him, please? Just accept him. Would be to God that sinners would say, Christ, accept me. [06:15:19]
And if all I was going to talk to you about this morning is the blessings of God without the conditions of God, I would be like a surgeon who's giving me wrong information. There's no different. Why are there malpractice suits when a physician messes up, but there's no malpractice suits when a pastor only tells you one section of God's Word in order to please you? [13:46:09]
And this was again with me a puppy recon test this morning, but that's okay. Moreover, brethren, so he just talked about discipline. I do not want you to be unaware that all of our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food and all drank the spiritual drink. [15:58:70]
But with most of them, God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. So they went from deliverance to disobedience. Here's where we have to be careful. I've found often when God delivers you, be careful, be very careful, because the enemy ramps up his attack, and you can go from deliverance to disobedience very quickly. [19:37:10]
And the number two sexual immorality, you know, let me just, I've been wanting to say this for 10 minutes, let me just say it. If for some reason you don't like what I've been saying this far, you're upset at this, I challenge you, I beg you to take it to God, because so many people run from conviction when they should be running to it. [33:07:40]
And the number three, of course, for many people, some even here today, salvation is waiting. Is that interesting? With salvation, it is waiting. I'm gonna read from the NLT. I normally don't do that. It's more of a commentary, but they know that they nail that the nail on the head with this. Second Peter 3:9, the Lord isn't being slow about his promise as some people think. [45:48:64]
The filling of the Holy Spirit is often just one step away—what's that step? From disobedience to obedience. The filling of the Spirit, if you seek me, you will find me. Paul said, be filled with the Holy Spirit. That's an active tense there of a verb, meaning crying out to God, seeking God, being filled with God's Spirit. [45:12:31]
And I told you this earlier, overeating and indulging is often linked with sin. It's throughout the Bible. Why is that? Because when I lose control on my bodily appetites, it will govern other areas of my life. It all filters in. You don't see anybody self-discipline in a certain area, I mean, giving into a certain area and self-discipline in other areas. [32:83:71]
And then three, tempted, I'm sorry, tested Christ. They tested Christ. What does that mean to tempt Christ, to tempt him? Remember when you're a little kid, you ever play that na na na, you can't catch me, tempting, you know, they tempted him, they tested him. How do we do that today? Well, we must guard our tongue, guard our tongue. [38:96:98]
And the number two, sexual immorality, Proverbs 5:3 reminds us this, that the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. Remember, remember to eat this if you want to, if you have Twitter or Facebook or even Snapchat, this one sin fascinates before it assassinates. Sin always fascinates before it assassinates. [34:49:50]
