#CalledForOne
“``The rest is just gonna look as chaotic as it does in Jesus' life. Right? And here's the truth that I have needed to tell myself so many times. I am not a bad person if I walk past the large masses to seek out the one that god has called me to. In fact, the idea that I have to help every need that I see proves that I think god can't handle it. That's a deep insecurity in me that it rests all on my shoulders, and it's exactly what was burning me out.”

#TrustGodsPlan
“If you need feel feel the need to do something about every little need that comes in your way, your actions are speaking the truth of your insecurity of a good god who cares for the hurting, who's working in all the things, who is sovereign and powerful. God didn't forget about all these people still sitting at the pool of Beth Bethesda. There was just a different plan for them, and that is why we struggle with compassion. That's why I've struggled with compassion in a way that mimics Jesus. Jesus walked past all those people not because he didn't care, but rather because he knew they weren't for him to care about in that moment. God already had them and had a different plan for them.”

#LoveGodFirst
“I don't know about you, but for most of my life, I have read those verses and I have clung to the outward facing verbs. The go, the make, the teach, the love, your neighbor. Right? And all the things as it pertains to people, but I miss the key parts in both of them. I miss the love the lord your god with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind is the first commandment. And the end of the commission is to remember that Jesus is always with you. So compassion towards people is sandwiched between loving the lord your god with all you have and remembering that you're never alone. How beautiful is that?”

#RelationshipOverRush
“Are we supposed to stop for all the needs? Are we supposed to be interruptible? Are we supposed to be laser focused on our calling and not be distracted? How do we know, and how did he know? And I have wrestled for a long time, and that's when I came to the realization that Jesus had a close intimate relationship every day with his father. He was filled with the holy spirit who led him. This is the part we're meant to model. Not all the not all the stories. Yes. There's some good nuggets in all of it. There's some wisdom in all of it. But I think as believers, we get so hung up on the actions and we forget about the relationship.”

#Daily20Time
“So taking all that we know about godly compassion, about this this idea of spending time with him first and out of that flowing into into our everyday lives, our innate human insecurity and god's control over our lives and our and our circles around us and our desire to love god and love out others, how do we practically respond? There's a couple steps. And I've already said number one, you get alone with god. We talk so much about a daily 20. It is like you should hear it every time you come. A daily 20. A daily 20. This is the most important thing you can do. There are a lot of things you can do as believers. But if we're not journeying with Jesus, what's the point? Get alone with him. Learn. Listen. Pray. It's how we grow. It's how we move. It is how he works through us. And if you do nothing else right now, do this, a daily 20.”

#ReceiveThenPour
“The first is to love the Lord your God, and that's so difficult. And this is where the journey really started with, compassion for me. In a burnt out season from serving all the people, he pulled me away. And he said, just receive. Receive and then pour out. Kinda like this image that we've been putting in front of you. It starts at the top. First, You pray. You read your scripture. You have quiet time with Jesus. Only then can you have the bottom part. Right? Without the solitude, without getting away, without diving into scripture and talking and listening, I was trying to do it all in the name of Jesus, but I didn't really know if it was what god had in mind for me or if it was what I had in mind for me. Probably the latter, if I'm honest.”

#HearHisVoice
“It's how he knew his shepherd's voice. Right? Like, we said the lord is our shepherd, but how do you know his voice if you don't ever spend time with him? Right? So by receiving that direction, he was able to wind up the jewelry box. He's able to find joy in the serving and the receiving and the the dance of all of that. Even in the middle of chaos, knowing full well that his actions, what he did was what exactly what he was called to do.”

#CalledToLocal
“And I kept going back to that great commission. I was like, okay, god. You say go and make disciples of all nations, and I camped on that word all. And I put it on my shoulders. I was like, I'm gonna work harder. I'm gonna do more. I'm gonna I'm gonna invest in more. And then in a prayer time a few months ago, I said, god, I can't do it all. I don't I can't. I don't have the money. I don't have the time. I don't have the experience. I don't have the energy. And I was walking along the trail as I would prayed, and I I remember I felt like God said, I didn't ask you to. You took that on your own. He said, I called you to the local church.”
