#CleanseBySpirit
“``And then what happens is not only is the holy spirit so powerful that at the moment of acceptance that he begins to clean you from the inside out, it you stay clean. And then on top of that, the holy spirit is so power powerful, it can overcome the very sin itself that made you dirty. All of a sudden, it can completely change and cleanse you. I love this example and this illustration because sometimes we gotta realize our condition, but most importantly, understand and know the role of the Holy Spirit. The primary role of the Holy Spirit in your life this morning is to cleanse you and free you from sin.”

#ChaseTheGiver
“I guarantee you every single one of us lands in one of those giftings. Now here's the thing, though. A lot of us are either scared of our gifts or a lot of us are scared of what the church will do with the gifts. I wanna demystify something this morning. Here at Compass City, we don't chase after gifts. We chase after the giver of gifts. So the more we focus on the person of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, we receive the gifts that he designed for you to have.”

#ScriptureFirst
“God does not speak outside of the scriptures. In fact, he uses his word as good, healthy guardrails to make sure we understand his voice correctly. Also then, it's important to know that if somebody tells you something, quote, unquote, from God that is not in the scriptures, don't listen to him. That's also healthy. God speaks through the community of believers. God speaks through the scriptures, but it's counteracted and balanced equally. So if somebody comes and talks to me and says, Brian, I feel like God's told me to tell you something, I'm okay with that. But just know I'm always gonna filter everything through the scripture. I'm not gonna receive anything that anybody says to me from god unless it is filtered through scripture.”

#GiftsForTheKingdom
“This is what a spiritual gift is. The spiritual gift is it's a talent that God gives you, but it's untapped to its full capacity until you're filled with the Holy Spirit. And when you're filled with the Holy Spirit, god maximizes your gifts and your talents very specifically for one difference. The key is that when you become a Christian, when you get a spiritual gift, it is not to edify yourself but solely to advance the kingdom of god. Meaning, you have a specific purpose and a reason for being in the local church, and God is and wants to use you.”
