#DevotedCommunity
“``So my question again is, is this picture that we read about in Acts chapter two, was this something for then but not now? Or as theologians, oftentimes will ask, is this something that is prescriptive or descriptive? Is this just describing what took place, but it shouldn't be our shared experience. Or is this something that that ought to be aspirational for us? Is it something that we as a people should pursue? And in case you're wondering, I think it is something that we as a people, should pursue. I think we should be a people who are devoted to the word and devoted to one another. We should care deeply about gathering in living rooms and kitchens around a common table. We should be a people who pray together, and the result of that is a countercultural community that can only be explained by the work of God.”

#SpiritualAccountability
“Can I ask you a question? Do you have something that looks like this? Not not just do you have a good friend or someone that you enjoy hanging out with, But do you have someone in your life that when you come together, you ask them, hey. What is the Lord teaching you in his word? Like, you're committed to that person. You've looked them in the eye and said, man, through thick and thin, no matter what happens, I'm not going anywhere, Just so you know. Do you have someone in your life that you regularly pray for? Do you have people that when you get together, you ask, hey, how man, how can I pray for you? What is God doing in your life? Like, now, what can we ask him to do? When you think about your community, if your community is not marked by those things, can I just encourage you and challenge you to take a step?”

#AweEncounter
“So when we read in Acts chapter two verse 43 that awe came upon every soul, I want us to remember or read that passage through that lens. Right? The god of the universe had worked in a mighty way in the midst of these people, and awe came upon every soul. Church family, can I ask you, when is the last time that awe came upon your soul? I mean, when is the last time that you experienced the the work of God and the power of God in your life and you were undone? Like, you you did not have words. You just were blown away.”

#OpenTheTable
“I mean, maybe you're here this morning and you're going, James, man, I have my four. It's us four and no more. Like, we are a a dynamic bunch. Like, I'm I'm happy, I'm content. James, we have four, and if we get one more, that's an odd number, And things get weird. I mean, we ride the roller coaster at the theme park, who's gonna sit alone? We don't want that. Someone's gonna have to sit at the end of the table when we go to the restaurant. Five is an odd number. Doesn't work. I'm happy with four. Could I just challenge you? Put out another chair, even if it comes at a cost to you? Because I assure you someone else wants what you have.”

#InviteOneMore
“if you are here this morning and you have that, you you have biblical community, it has been a joy for you to experience it. Can I ask you to do something mildly uncomfortable? And that is this. Would you prayerfully consider setting out one more chair because someone wants what you have. Someone wants to experience what you have already experienced.”

#PrayForHealing
“Like, I wanna hear stories from people who have reached a point in life where where they go, hey, listen. I've been chronically ill for as long as I can remember, and I'm just gonna be chronically ill. This is my lot in life. I want God to so powerfully move in their life that all of a sudden, the pain is gone. Like, I I long for that. I want that. I I wanna pray towards that, and I want to believe it. I I want us as a church family to experience things where we go. That's There's God doing godlike things again. It's just like him to do it.”

#LongForMiracles
“When it comes to the miraculous of God, when it comes to the God of the universe doing miraculous things amongst his people, like, I don't know about you, but, like, I want that. Like, I want to see God move and work in ways that only can be explained by the God of the universe. I I want God to do things that cause us to shrug our shoulders and go, hey, that doesn't make any earthly sense to me apart from the work of God. I I want God to miraculously heal people.”

#BiblicalAwe
“In fact, in scripture, the Bible never records a direct personal encounter with God in which the individual was not visibly shaken by God's power, by his awesomeness. When God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, Moses hid his face and trembled before God. When Isaiah saw the Lord in all of his glory and all of his majesty, he cried out, woe is me, I am ruined. When the risen Christ appeared to Saul, the persecutor on the Damascus Road, Saul, prostrated himself in fear and in trembling. And so in scripture, awe is fear or dread, wonder, amazement, or reverence, but it's wrapped into one.”
