In our journey of faith and learning, we are called to express what we have observed, understood, evaluated, felt, and applied in a way that is helpful to others. This expression is not just an academic exercise but a vital part of our Christian witness. To do this effectively, we must speak with truth, logic, pictures, and love. [00:00:58]

Hypocrisy is a certain species of lying and the kind of Truth with which I want you to speak right be is the opposite of a hypocrite Hypocrites don't just tell lies Hypocrites are lies Jesus was more angry at Hypocrites than anybody you Hypocrites woe to you inside you are full of greed you are whitewashed tombs. [00:03:45]

Pastors any leaders in the room you want people to trust you don't replace truth with cunning in a business meeting don't let your cleverness show how wise you are in dodging a question from the congregation let your reputation be he oozes honesty what you see is is what you get. [00:06:17]

Hypocrites are very clever people they're clever communicators they're admired for how fluent and how smooth their words come and undiscerning people and we're in the business of educating people out of being undiscerning and you will be in the business of helping congregations grow out of UND discernment. [00:07:26]

By Logic I simply mean what you say hangs together you don't have to have most lay people with zero education totally get this and can catch it just they smell it they smell it when you're trying to manipulate them without true logic your conclusions follow from True premises you've made your premises clear. [00:09:12]

Say peach rather than fruit say dog rather than animal say dusty rather than dog say rain rather than weather say Neptune rather than Planet say basketball rather than sport say buttered toast and bacon rather than breakfast say brown wool and pullover rather than clothing say Rusty socket wrench rather than tool. [00:13:56]

God gave you five senses now am amazing everybody in this room God gave you five senses we smell honeysuckle we see Dogwood blossoms you can tell them living in Tennessee we hear the cooing of the dove we we taste the number three Spicy sandwich of chicken filet and we feel the biting of 10 below windchill. [00:15:58]

Finally say it with love so say it with truth say it with logic say it with pictures finally say it with love The Only Thing Worth talking about is what you love or what gets in the way of what you love that you want to get out of the way those those are the only two things worth talking about. [00:17:02]

If you don't love what you're talking about be quiet why would you want to talk seriously if it's not worthy of your love it's probably not worthy of their time if you're bored with what you're about to say repent quick repent quick especially if you're about to preach re repent quickly and plead. [00:17:45]

You will love it won't you because it is true and it's beautiful and you will hate what you're talking about because it is in the way of Truth and beauty and you have to talk about that you are angry about what you're talking about because it is so devastating to people seeing Beauty and and feeling love. [00:19:13]

Things are true and beautiful because they're in accord with God and you know why you all know why I hope I pray you know why you have seen them as true and beautiful don't you you know why you have seen them and others have and it's because Christ died for you and he rose again. [00:20:05]

The implication of that last point is your love for what you are saying turns out to be a way of loving God and a way of loving people because that's what they need they need truth they need Beauty they need Christ and they need somebody who's seen it and is in love with it. [00:21:09]
