but in that passage in first corinthians chapter 4 that i read verses 15 and 16. it is not only talk of the visible progress that is expected that we glorify god in life and doctrine i don't want to go to issue of doctrine because just last week we had a conference at our nation called back to the bible conference [00:20:25]

the thing that has caught up with so many people who want power who wants signs and wonders by all means and and they go and get power from any source and many even in the mainline churches are now succumbing to some of these things so that during your power night you begin to practice things that are not in the bible [00:21:16]

but the third thing i want to mention there is the perseverance that is emphasized why the word perseverance they persevere in them you know there is a similar word in second timothy chapter four because i wanted to read all the verses together and then begin to treat them together [00:23:04]

but you keep your head in all situations others may but you cannot endure hardship i want to stop there for now because that links to what i'm saying perseverance because there are problems to overcome no problems that will overcome you in the ministry and if they tell you that there are no problems of course nobody will tell you that [00:24:01]

we are not ignorant of the fact that we are in the world and there are many promises in the scriptures of god's abiding presence of god's power to help us to overcome and let me tell you a lot of problems it's not just marital disharmony as we may put it but even some marital problems not in the sense of this harmony that have caused ministries to disappear to collapse [00:25:00]

how do you maintain the clear conscience before god yes and also before people avoiding shady things as paul said in second corinthians where we read there i mean first corinthians chapter four we do not lose heart we deliberately avoid undermining god's word peddling god's word you know we don't want to do things that we even give room to do suspicions and scandal and so on and so forth [00:28:05]

is what i call a plea for comprehensive ministry this question of completing or fulfilling the ministry or finishing well we may understand it when we go back to that well colossians chapter 4 it says here to ocupos see to eat that you fulfill the ministry or complete the ministry [00:28:59]

do the work of an evangelist discharge all the duties of your ministry that's how it is rendered here discharge all the duties of the ministry there is i think what they call full-orbed ministry o rbed full-orbed ministry that is it is true that um we are talking about preaching the gospel winning souls you know missions discipleship and all these things [00:30:00]

and some people like to ride their hobby horses they measure on one thing in particular it's good to specialize i must say it's not good there should be ministry emphasis you find some people um just prepare some lessons some marriage and do some research on it so they carry out marriage seminars they are marriage counselors they just that that seems to be the ministry [00:30:47]

and god is the builder himself of course and we go co-workers with him and there are pillars very important things we need to put on ground that that pillar is called this that pillar is called this adapter is called this which will hang everything if we must finish and end well [00:36:52]

how can you finish well with the spirit of grumbling you want to be like a or b or c why that kind of competitive spirit it's not a good one he said the whole counsel of god so it's an assignment what do i understand by the whole counsel of god can i begin to spend more time in prayer and study so that i'll be able to teach my people [00:39:12]
