This is illustrated in James 1:3, which tells us that the testing of our faith produces endurance.

One of the most profound examples of this priority war is found in Genesis 22, where God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. This story is not about a cruel God but about testing Abraham's faith to see if he would put God first above all things.
